Maria Grazia Swan was born in Italy, but this rolling stone has definitely gathered no moss. She lived in Belgium, France, Germany, in beautiful Orange County, California where she raised her family, and is currently at home in Phoenix, Arizona—but stay tuned for weekly updates of Where in the World is Maria Grazia Swan?
As a young girl, her vivid imagination predestined her to be a writer. She won her first literary award at the age of fourteen while living in Belgium. As a young woman Maria returned to Italy to design for—ooh-la-la—haute couture. Once in the U.S. and after years of concentrating on family, she tackled real estate. These days her time is devoted to her deepest passions: writing and helping people find happiness.
Maria loves travel, opera, good books, hiking, and intelligent movies (if she can find one, that is). When asked about her idea of a perfect evening, she favors stimulating conversation, spicy Italian food and perfectly chilled Prosecco—but then, who doesn’t?

Bohemian Rhapsody is a fantastic story that will leave you pondering long after you close the book. First, this isn’t the usual MG Swan book, and I LOVE the Mena series. This story paints a picture that keeps changing with its fluid lyric lines and the dark shades of human nature. Beautifully written. If you like a tight, fast-paced story with solid characters and a beautiful locale, I highly recommend this book.
“Mama, just killed a man. Put a gun against his head”
THIS is not the usual Maria Grazia Swan in any way, shape or form! It’s an amusing game and you never are quite sure who’s in charge, or why. I read it twice:first to get the idea and second to get the picture.
I am amazed at how much is laid out and how much illusion in packed into this book. And the cover art is so lovely! This one’s going to haunt you! Highly Recommended 5/5
This well-done, suspenseful novella is at once atmospheric with chilling hints of danger and betrayal. The foreshadowing is expertly done, and sets the stage for the unfolding tale of deception, betrayal, and mystery.
The narrator, a woman unnamed except as “Little Orphan,” is traveling to a remote Arizona home of a woman known as La Bowie. There, she and someone known only as Pablo are apparently planning something sinister with the wealthy La Bowie as their target. Exactly what is going on is expertly hidden from the readers, though hints are doled out in skillful ways, until the climax. But that something ominous is afoot is clear from the foreshadowing and the tiny bits of information Swan dangles artfully throughout her novella.
As an author, Swan excels in the deft and clever handling of clues, narration, and dialogue—and in building suspense. Tensions ratchet up exponentially as the story heads toward the shocking climax, an ending both surprising and yet somehow inevitable. Along the way, the story twists and turns, and near the end, the story pivots, with a sharp turn that adds even more tension to the tale. Bohemian Rhapsody has the satisfying kick and feel of a full-length novel. Expertly taut and thrilling, it’s an engaging romp in noir territory. And though Maria Grazia Swan is a new discovery to me, on the strength of this novella, I’ve already loaded some more of her books on my Kindle.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Maria Grazia Swan A Noir Suspense I found this in my TBR stash a couple of days ago. I think it was very good; but not my cup-of-tea.. Yet it certainly fits the way I feel about my world at this moment in time. Happy Reading ! !
