"One of the first scholarly and systematic looks at the natural philosophy of Ptolemy, its ethical implications, and its departure from the thought of Aristotle. Taub's writing is clear and succinct, and her ability to handle original texts is outstanding...a unique contribution of our understanding of the history of science and philosophy in late antiquity." --The Modern Schoolman
Good book, easy to read and understand. Some moments where the author seemed to repeat themselves like in a graduate paper, but enough original insights to make up for it. Ptolemys Universe actually dispels many modern myths about a geocentric universe and the philosophical roots of astrology. I really enjoyed the strange ideas of these ancients and their relatability for today.
