Melody Carlson is the award-winning author of over two hundred books, several of them Christmas novellas from Revell, including her much-loved and bestselling book, The Christmas Bus.

She also writes many teen books, including the Diary of a Teenage Girl series, the TrueColors series, and the Carter House Girls series.

Melody was nominated for a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award in the inspirational market for her books, including the Notes from a Spinning Planet series and Finding Alice, which is in production as a Lifetime Television movie. She and her husband serve on the Young Life adult committee in central Oregon.

Book in my library. Christian author

a. -Maya is the main character, she's 15 and is a vegan. She loves recycling and gardening. I liked her because she never gives up.
-Shannon is Mayas mother. She's a horrible parent and is a cocain addict that cares nothing about her daughters well being. I did not like her because she is an immature adult that puts partying before her kid.
-Nick is Mayas father, he cares for Maya but puts his career first. I didn't dislike him but i didn't like him. He's a good parent except for the fact that he doesn't come home to take care of his daughter when needed.
-Kim is Mayas adopted cousin. She's my favorite. Her mother died and she and is a christian. She helps Maya have a "normal" life and become happy.
b. Maya decides to get a job so she can get emancipated. Shannon steals her money so Maya goes to live with her dad on the road. Comes back home to Shannon, Shannon gets arrested, Maya goes to live with Kim.
c. This book was very encouraging. I would definitely recommend it to others. One strength would be the fact that she became at peace at the end once she got out of the bad living situation. One weakness would be it didn't really tell how or when Shannon started using or go into much detail on why. I feel as though that would help the readers to see her as pitiful more than such a bad person.

Throughout the book Caitlyn changes dramatically through her faith, love and personality. In the same day Caitlyn looses her bestfriend and gains a "popular friend." Caitlyn experiences heartache and happiness throughout the book.

I thought that this book deserved three stars because, it was more of a drama book to me than a story. I mean, I don’t mind a little drama in my books, but this was just an overload. The main character is Catlin. She is in high school and she is Christin. She doesn't appreciate her Christianity until she comes across problems that make her speak to God as her last resort. The other reason that I did not like it because I thought some of the events were kind of random with some starting off in whole different months. I understand that it is a diary and no one writes in it every day especially with Caitlin’s life, but whole months missed? I don’t think so.
