I waited for the story of Alia and Adam because of the nice build up in the last book. But I feel like their story fell flat. Adam was Kidnapped and just comes out of his PTSD fine? I needed a little more drama behind his capture. I wanted him to really explore his PTSD. The two characters didn't seem like a good fit.

I reviewed His Christmas Gift by Janice Sims for Romance in Color magazine. it’s a story about loyalty, reconnecting and falling in love all over again. We are first introduced to Alia Joie Youngblood-Braithwaite in Ms. Sims previous book, Cherish My Heart. She is the Marketing Director for her family’s media company, and also a talented painter who is working on her first art show. Alia’s husband, Scientist Dr. Adam Braithwaite, and his colleagues were held hostage for two years, and were recently rescued.
After much anticipation, Adam and Alia are back together. Adam has been through a life altering experience. It’s going to take patience and time for him to get back to a sense of normalcy in his life and marriage, and also get over his insecurities. Over time, Alia and Adam are finally able to enjoy each other as a couple. Ms. Sims adds depth to the secondary characters and the reader learns a little about Alia’s friends, who were very supportive. There are also updates on the Youngblood family.
The first book was just boring. The second was certainly better written, but everything ended tied up in such a tidy neat little bow, blech. Not my cup of tea. I think I lean more towards erotica.
