She will be mine and she will pay. A standalone enemies-to-lovers romantic suspense by the author of The Vigilante's Lover Last night I accomplished the single largest heist of my life -- jeweled swords worth $140 million. I celebrate by requesting a glorious dark-haired beauty from my favorite escort service. This call girl is like none other. She’s passionate and wild, and I want to keep her for myself. I’ve stolen some of the greatest jewels known to man. This mere woman should be no issue. But in the morning, she is gone. And so are my swords. I know when I’ve met my match. But make no mistake, I will find her. When I am done, both the swords and her lying, thieving body will be mine.
Seven of Swords is a phenomenal masterpiece that will delight your senses with its power-driven adrenaline and its breathlessly captivating passion. This story is so refreshing and perfect with its delicious twists and turns along the way that will melt your heart completely and enthrall your senses the entire time. Putting this book down will prove close to impossible as you find yourself racing towards something you never imagined could ever happen. I felt like this brilliant story revived and refreshed my restless heart and mind to prove that you can always find exactly what you want in a good book.

He is utterly helpless to do anything but see just how far he is willing to chase Jade down this dangerous and dark rabbit hole.
I was absolutely intrigued by the iron control of Jacob and the blazing hurricane that is Jade. She shakes up his world and leaves him delightfully confused and happily disenchanted. Jade brought new life and meaning to Jacob’s grey and meaningless life. I feel in love with both of these extraordinary characters. They stormed into my life and stole my heart and imprinted themselves on my soul. What a fabulous adventure that you will never see coming!
I originally read Annie Winters' Vigilante series several years ago when it was first published. So I was really excited to learn about this new book. And it exceeded my recollections and expectations.
Jacob Holt is a master thief, who has just stolen a set of sword hilts that are believed to belonged to King Arthur, Sir Lancelot and other Round Table knights. They are valued on the black market at 140 million dollars. To celebrate this successful heist, Jacob orders a high end call girl, as is his practice. He experiences one of the best sexual interludes he's ever had (bar one, approximately 6 years earlier with a girl he's been searching for ever since). When Jacob awakens the next morning, the girl is gone. As is a tiara he kept in his apartment and the swords that he had hidden in a fully secured bunker below the deli he owns next door to his apartment building.
Clearly, Jade, the girl he was with, was way more than the call girl she was purported to be. Jacob wants the swords returned and vengeance on Jade for besting him at his own game.
Jade is hiding a lot about her past and her abilities. As the story progresses we learn more about the circle of misogynistic thieves who comprise The Den. And when this story ended, I simply wanted more. That's not to say I was disappointed in it's ending. Just that it wasn't enough. And the ending, although sufficient in terms of a standalone, left open the possibility of more. So I'm truly hoping Ms. Winters comes through and provides it real soon!
This story starts out with a bang and doesn't slow down until the end. I loved everything about it. Jacob is an accomplished thief who has made millions selling what he has stolen. After his latest job of stealing the seven swords, he calls for a little female companionship. He gives his preferred description and what he gets is more than he bargained for. Jade is the beauty who was sent from the escort service he called but she was so much more. There was a spark between them and after a great night together, but when Jacob wakes, Jade isn't then only thing missing. He learns she is also a thief. The things Jacob goes through to find Jade and get the sword hilts back is a great mystery to this whole story. And you have to love the gadgets and hidden rooms and don't forget the references to the Vigilante's. Will Jacob find Jade and the missing swords before she sells them? Does Jade know what she has stolen from him? Who else is after Jade or are they after the sword hilts instead? This story will keep you on the edge until the end but it is worth it. I didn't want to put it down even to sleep. If you haven't read anything from Annie Winters, I hope you will love her too. **Free copy provided from the author and this is my honest review**
Disappointed in this book. Had hoped for more after enjoying the related Vigilantes series. The narrative and dialogue read stiffly for me, as in awkwardly written. Dropped words everywhere, very poor editing. The plot should have been interesting regarding two competing thieves, but was jumbled and lacked structure. Connections and a late twist felt forced and contrived with underdeveloped, immature characters. The sex was unappealing for me too. I didn't find this story romantic or suspenseful. I did like the spy gadget stuff, wish I could have liked the thievery more.
The Diamond Thief was a great read by Annie Winters. Jacob is a thief who just acquired his biggest haul yet/ He stole the surviving swords of King Arthur's Round Table that will bring him in $140 million. His usual way of celebrating is to hire a call girl. The call girl who shows up at his door step is like no other and has taken his most precious things. I really enjoyed Jacob and Jade's story. This was a great fast paced book that kept me on my toes.
I loved The Diamond Thief. It was fun, fast pace and full of surprises. I really liked the main characters. They have great chemistry and really complement each other. I would definitely recommend this story.
Suspenseful, nail biting action and just the right amount of humor.
I read this book when it was first published as Seven of Swords under Deanna Roy's JJ Knight pen name. Minor changes have been made to my original review to fit the new title and pen name.
Annie Winters has written a superb story – The Diamond Thief – with just the right amount of humor rolled into this sexy, nail biting, thrill ride, action packed book.
Jacob and Jade are rival thieves and Jade has pulled a fast one on Jacob by stealing the loot from the biggest heist he's ever pulled off. She is one smart cookie as well as being so enchantingly beautiful that he can't forget the one glorious night they had together. Jade has an agenda, one that she can't let Jacob know about but she's also unable to forget him.
This book has more twists and turns than Lombard Street in San Francisco. Just when I thought I knew what was going on another curve ball came at me. Fans of Annie's Vigilante stories will be happy to learn that there are references to that series in this book.
To say that the story kept me on the edge of my seat would be very true and if only real life had cooperated I would have finished this in one sitting instead of it taking me a few days. ☹
If you like action-packed romantic suspense with a large does of sexy time don't wait to pick this one up. There's no cliffhanger (yay!) but I was certainly left wanting to read more stories about further escapades for Jacob and Jade or perhaps stories for a few of the interesting supporting characters.
