While Isobel plans a daring escape to confront her past, Marcus must face a sickening alliance with those he commands to protect his position on Earth.

About the author

Eliza Green

Eliza Green tried her hand at fashion designing, massage, painting, and even ghost hunting, before finding her love of writing. She often wonders if her desire to change the ending of a particular glittery vampire story steered her in that direction (it did). After earning her degree in marketing, Eliza went on to work in everything but marketing, but swears she uses it in everyday life, or so she tells her bank manager.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, she lives there with her sci-fi loving, evil genius best friend. When not working on her next amazing science fiction adventure, you can find her reading, indulging in new food at an amazing restaurant or simply singing along to something with a half decent beat.

Another winner by Eliza Green.

This book is not a direct continuation of the Genesis storyline, but rather an alternate POV for the events of Book 4, teamed with the back stories of both Marcus and Isobel.

While it may seem tempting to skip this one and head straight to Book 6, do yourself a favor and take the time to read this. I loved finding out all this extra info about what was happening in the background of the previous book.

Warning - the below review may contain spoilers to the previous story if you haven't already read Book 4.

Learning how Marcus came to be who and what he is, along with what is going on in his life sheds new light on his actions in Genesis Pact. It doesn't make him a more likeable character, or garner any sympathy from me - he is still a terrible person as a result of his own choices. Want to know the real reason for the criminal vehicles monitoring Albert's tavern, or what the real story behind Pete's affiliation with Marcus is? Or, maybe, why Marcus really took Albert and Kevin, and what really happened during that time?

Or, like me, have you been dying to know what really happened with Isobel's husband? She didn't come out hating him and angry about some great revelation, but something obviously happened to change her mind from so desperately needing to find him to complete acceptance that it was over between them.

And, what was the deal with Bill Taggart torturing her at the very beginning of Book 4 - something that was never really clarified during that book.

If you are looking for the answers to all these questions, along with a few you probably didn't even know you had, then this is the book for you. It offers the opportunity to fill in the gaps for situations alluded to in the previous book to provide a more comprehensive storyline overall by viewing the story through the alternating eyes of both Marcus and Isobel.

Then, there's the very clever ending with a twist that will make you look forward to seeing what happens next even more than you did at the end of Book 4.

I received a complimentary RC of this book in return for my my honest and unbiased review of this book.

Am I glad I read it - absolutely - I really enjoyed finding out more about these characters.
Was it a waste of my time - not at all
Would I sit down and read it all over again - definitely
Would I read more by this author based on this book - yes, I can't wait to read the next installment in the Genesis saga.

Having read The Exilon 5 Trilogy it was nice to backfill with a prequel that fleshes out the Indigene (native) characters in the trilogy and specifically Isobel (Exilon 5 #4.5). I'm not normally a Sci-Fic reader, but I'm a character reader and Eliza Green really gets into character development and the Indigene characters have very human characteristics. Having read the trilogy previously I got into it immediately, eagerly devouring the story behind the story. No spoilers here though, buy the books, read the story, get into a good author, I have!
Marcus (Exilon 5 #4.6) initially there was a lot of carry-over from Isobel, but soon evolved into the good read you always get from Eliza Green.

When I finished Genesis Pact, Genesis Trade was next. This book in the series, however, was different. It wasn't moving the storyline forward, it was the back story to Genesis Pact. It should not be missed! So many questions answered. I waisted the entire day finishing it and can't wait to move on to Genesis Variant. I will have to slow down. Variant is six of eight in the series and it will be over all to soon.

Review of the lives of Isobel (the Indigene) and Marcus (the criminal). Give these two a back story and overlaps with some of the story from Genesis Pact (Genesis #4). Not a MUST read in the series but does connect a few dots along the way

This was an interesting follow-on novel in this series, with a lot of loose ends tied up and some repetition as we saw previous events again, but from a different person's point of view. I am in two minds about this, as although it was very interesting, I was itching to have the story continued further. And there was some of that, so I am perhaps being a little uncharitable. I guess it was because the previous book was full of action, and this one felt less so, that it seemed a different beast. However, now that those ends are sorted, those motives explored, I am looking forward to the next book to see how things progress. However, a long series is rarely all five stars from me, and please do not take this as any indication that you should not read this book!

Isobel knows she has not always been an Indigene. She has memories whispering in her head of her husband. Whispered memories of conversations and of his touch but they are fleeting. She has to think hard just to remember them. should she go through the change just to become human again? Will it be worth it? Should she try and find the husband she lost when she changed?

Marcus has been put in charge of Waverley by Gaetano after being left on Earth by The World Government. He continues to prove to him that he is loyal and even better than Gaetano's son Enzo. But when he finds out that Gaetano plans to get rid of him, he knows that he has to do whatever he can to stay alive. Can he trust the Indigenes to be honest with him and tell him what Gaetano's plans are for him?

Two excellent stories by Eliza Green! I love her books and always look forward to reading them. She makes the characters come alive with her writing and I always lose track of time whenever reading her books. Great works of fiction! Love Eliza Green's writing!!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of these books that I received from the publisher.

Marcus & Isobel

These lives live up to our expectations from the Exilon world and the author's incredible skill at creating a vivid credible world of characters.

You need to read both to get a full picture of one event and how it impacts on everyone's lives.

The augmentation program had such an impact we can only start to fully explore this as we join both on journeys to and from Earth.

If you love the series these are a must readas that add to our understanding of the impact the changes have on ordinary people.

I was given a free copy of Marcus by the author for my fair and honest review.
