The Duke of Gloucester Ralph Warwick has his eye on the Viscount’s daughter, Marjorie. After a rather embarrassing rejection Ralph is unsure of how to approach her again. With the guided assistance of her cousin Louisa, he manages to impresses her as he has never done before. The problem is that the Duke had managed not just to impress the viscount’s daughter but her cousin as well. Louisa shifts her feelings aside, out of obligation towards her cousin, but also out of obligation for her family. Her father had arranged with Viscount Barton that Louisa is to marry his son when she reaches the appropriate age. When Marjorie unexpectedly elopes, leaving the Duke as an opportunity, Louisa is now faced with a truly difficult decision. Does she marry the man her father desired, or will she defy her father’s wishes and follow her heart?

This is the 7th book I read by Elizabeth Downton. I'm sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 3 because it didn't hold my interest.
