Written in 1927, this book is obviously dated - it’s not great to refer to anyone as “from sturdy stock.” However, it has mini-biographies of a wide variety of incredible Black Americans from the later 19th and early 20th century. I’d never heard of a fair number of the people profiled and was happy to learn more. Scipio Jones was AMAZING!
