About the author

Mashiul Alam was born in northern Bangladesh in 1966. He graduated in journalism from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in Moscow in 1993. He works at Prothom Alo, the leading Bengali daily in Bangladesh. He is the author of a dozen books including Second Night with Tanushree (a novel), Ghora Masud (a novella), Mangsher Karbar (The Meat Market, short stories), and Pakistan (short stories).

বইটা একটা ৮০ পৃষ্ঠার দীর্ঘশ্বাস!

লেখকের বই এই প্রথম পড়া। 'ঘোড়ামাসুদ' আর 'তনুশ্রীর সঙ্গে দ্বিতীয় রাত' না পেয়ে এই বইটি কিনে আনলাম। মশিউল আলমের লেখার হাত ভাল, উনি খুব সহজে বিশেষ কোন কঠিন শব্দ ব্যবহার না করেই একটি গল্প উঠিয়ে এনেছেন। তবে নিশ্চিত এই বই তার শ্রেষ্ঠ কাজ নয়। শেষের দিকে অনিশ্চয়তা থাকায় বইটাকে আরো ভালো লাগলো। তবে শুরু থেকেই এটা প্রেডিক্ট করা যাচ্ছিল। একটা সাংবাদিক-সাংবাদিক আর প্রতিবেদন-প্রতিবেদন ভাব ছিল পুরো গল্প জুড়ে। আমার মতে চাইলে উপন্যাসটিকে সহজেই ছোটগল্পে রূপান্তরিত করা যেত।
