Although the title states, "Slave Life in the Danish West Indies". But, after reading the book, it should say "Slave Life on St. Croix". Because about 70% of the books is about slavery life on St. Croix. My favorite parts are the discussion on "ice and ice cream" (P. 129), emancipation (P. 210), and the opening of schools for people of color (P 151). This is the second book that I have read for this author. Some discussions were repeated. Basically, a good history book on slavery in the Caribbean.

My favorite part of this book was discussion on ice (P. 129). How the slaves help the Navy in the war of 1812 (P. 162) and Emancipation (P. 2120).
