Leap into Love: Living Present to my Purpose on the Planet

Rate this book
Leap Into Love is a guidebook to helping followers of Jesus learn how radical love and acceptance of their physical frame could change their whole lives. Exploring the conflict between a projected worldview of beauty and unchangeable features God gave you. We will take a fresh look at how evidence of self-rejection shows up in our everyday lives, the power of making a conscious and intentional choice to embrace ourselves and how this choice makes us radical agents of chance in the world around us. Havilah will guide you by exploring scripture (and maybe having a good laugh or cry) in a fresh liberating journey. In a world obsessed with physical beauty and idyllic models, could we actually be a role model in a radical movement of loving the person God created you to be? Topics covered in the What is Evidence of Self Rejection? Growing in Self AcceptanceAccepting Our Bodies If what you see in the mirror is an example of God’s passion and creativity, but you HATE it, how can you really trust Him for your life? You are an example of His most significant work.

As someone who has always had a difficult relationship with potential and purpose, this book really hit.

“Reaching my potential is becoming the best version of the person God created me to be; nothing more, and nothing less.” (p. 175)

“It’s when we finally realize our purpose will never be about ‘what we so,’ but in ‘who we are’ while doing it.” (p. 173)

“Our purpose is to emulate the image of Christ on the Earth.” (p. 91)

“My hope is in accepting who God created me to be and knowing He’s not finished moulding me to be the person He originally intended.” (p. 45)

This book was exactly what I needed to read at this moment in my life. I am in a season of transition. One that I didn’t see coming and this book has helped me to lean into what God is pushing me toward and to understand my feelings and emotions around change. I highly recommend this book!

While I liked the general idea of this study, I wish it was more based in the word. It was a lot of story telling, paraphrasing the Bible, and using quotes from The Message. I wanted to dive more into specific verses or chapters & I think this fell short of that.
The redeeming qualities of this were some of the activities & journaling that I did enjoy.

Fantastic Bible study book especially on the basis of assessing many things and taking a look into the past so that you can live fully in the present to your purpose that God has called us to! A beautiful "marriage" of psychology and theology. If you read this and are intentional about doing heart-workout and asking God to grow you: you will. It's good-no it's great!!

So good. If you are struggling with believing your identity in Christ or even just learning what that looks like - this is for you. It's all about getting to a place where you can see the value in you that God created. Because "If what you see in the mirror is an example of God's passion and creativity, but you hate it, how can you trust Him for your life?"
