St. Gregory's Prayer Book

Rate this book
The St. Gregory's Prayer Book is a beautifully produced leatherette prayer book compiled by the Ordinariates established by Pope Benedict XVI and drawing on the riches of the Anglican liturgical heritage and the exquisite Cranmerian language of the Book of Common Prayer to further enrich the panoply of Catholic liturgy and devotion.

The text includes ancient English collects, introits and hymns available together for the first time for the whole Church as approved examples of Catholic liturgy. In addition to the Liturgical texts, classic translations of traditional prayers and devotions for use in the Church and in the home have been lovingly compiled and edited in St. Gregory's Prayer Book.

This lovely book of prayers is user friendly and accessible to Catholic faithful with a love of beautiful language and in search for supplementary resources for their prayer life that are both new and at the same time respectful of Church tradition. With gold blocking on cover and spine, and a silk ribbon marker.

A really wonderful compendium of Catholic prayers and devotions, drawing especially from the English and Anglo-Catholic tradition. Compiled not only to serve the devotional needs of members of the Ordinariates but also to share the rich English spiritual tradition with other Catholics, readers will find a wealth of devotional material, including ancient collects and the Ordinariate rite of the Mass, as well as traditional devotions, all in sacred English.

The book is beautifully produced, with a buttery-soft cover and substantial paper stock that should hold up well under constant use. My one complaint is that the type is a bit on the small side. But, that quibble aside, this is by far the most beautiful, compendious, and well-selected collection of prayers and devotions that I have ever owned.

A beautiful prayer book that should be embraced by both Catholics and Anglicans (and any Christians of the liturgical traditions).

This book comes along with me to every church activity involving prayer -- Mass, Adoration, teaching Catechism etc. -- for it quickly became extremely valuable to me. Rarely a day passes that I do not use it, (and benefit from its ability to fix my mind and heart on God, and for its beauty). I highly recommend this gorgeous prayer book to the faithful Catholic Christian.
