Glossophobia – fear of public speaking

New York author Aaron Freeman is a pragmatic writer as his published books attest – LIFE COACHING MADE EASY, I AMAZON: How to edit, design, publish and promote your masterpiece on Amazon, and PUBLIC SPEAKING MADE EASY. His books are short, to the point, practical, accessible – and very useful. As he states, ‘my passions are progress and transparency.’

Aaron opens is book with a fine and reassuring discussion of why public speaking is frightening – ‘Simply accepting that our fear is a very normal thing is a good place to start.’ And it is this calm reassuring manner in which he discusses that planning what we are going to say or speak about is key to a good public speaker, and proceeds to selecting our topic, making slides for a more informative presentation, responding to an audience with dignity and genuine warmth, being fully present in a moment (fine ideas on how to prepare ourselves before speaking, ‘the strong presence of looking, feeling and being confident lays the groundwork for the rest of your public speaking session. Smile, be personal, professional and at ease.’ He even offers suggestions about what to do after the speaking mission is over – feedback means!

The practical, gentle approach Aaron takes makes just reading his book a reassuring step one in overcoming glossophobia. Read, think, learn and relax. Highly recommended for all readers.

Public Speaking Made Easy: How to Master the Art of Public Speaking by Aaron Freeman makes speaking in public a little less harrowing in this accessible and useful guide. Freeman knows that everyone hates public speaking; it even has a scientific name, glossophobia. However in this book, Freeman asserts that even the most fearful of us can overcome and give a successful speech or talk in public. If you've been asked to speak or have volunteered to speak in a public way, this is the book that will guide you on the path to more confidence when facing this challenge. Freeman lays out this short book nicely, and details in a practical way how to create effective presentations with slides, how to improve your content, and how to be vastly over-prepared. These steps in turn will help you overcome your fears, and deliver the speech of your dreams. Highly recommend for a pragmatic and helpful guide on public speaking.
