This is a quick and easy book for total beginners. One doesn’t need to know anything about chess to be able to read and use this book. Everything is explained slowly and in detail with a lot of pictures - without forgetting the culture and history of chess.

I’ve played chess very casually since the 70s, but I still enjoyed this book a lot. The one big downside is, that thus book was published back in 1995 and is therefore missing a good quarter of century of chess history.
