The eleventh volume in this continuing series contains abstracts from The Daily National Intelligencer (formerly The National Intelligencer and Washington Advertiser), Washington, D.C.'s first newspaper. Entries include classified ads, presidential appointments, marriage and death notices, congressional lists, advertisements, runaway slave notices and reward postings, tax lists, notable court cases, letters, accounts of military affairs, maritime information and other noteworthy events in and around the nation's capital. A quick perusal will turn up an abundance of specialized information not readily available elsewhere, such as notices announcing the arrival of foreign ambassadors and delegates from across the United States, contemporary reports of murder and other sensational crimes, the opening of new businesses, lists of persons whose patents had expired, regimental lists of appointments and promotions in the United States Army, list of mail contractors, and much more.
