Have you ever wondered… What it would feel like to be a chocolate cake, or How you would react to not getting your paycheck on time, or How to get out of doing your laundry, or What it would be like to have a pet pig, or What it means to be in love? New Love, Spilt Milk, and Potbellied Pigs explores these questions and many more. The diverse stories, plays, and poems in this book are relatable and easy to read. If you are looking to have fun, laugh out loud, explore your thoughts and emotions, and read about real life, you have picked the right book!
It's hard to write a review of this book. I only read it because it was the choice of my book club for discussion. It is written for a small niche audience of adults who read at a 3rd or 4th-grade level. There is also something to do with a mental health issue, I think. I found a couple of the stories to be a little bit interesting, but mostly the book was very slow and simplistic. I think it would satisfy those readers who were the target audience.
This is the second book my Next Chapter Book Club chose to read. We did not like this one quite as much - there are more plays and fewer stories, which our group tends to prefer more. Either way, lots of laughs, opportunities for discussion, and community together. Love Next Chapter Book Club books!
Our Next Chapter Book Club truly enjoyed reading aloud the stories in this book, especially the plays! The stories are true to life and often have a bit of humor.
