What a relatable book for kids! Adina Ben Ami is ... a bit scattered. She has one basic task to complete in order to go on a school field trip. Rebecca Klempner’s realistic storytelling walks us through exactly why Adina is having so much trouble just doing this one little thing. We see how frustrated Adina is getting, but we also can empathize with how difficult things really are for her.

Both parents and kids will be able to find themselves in this story; parents may gain a bit of understanding into just why their kids can’t always listen and perform right away, and kids might be able to take a step back and see how it really looks when they constantly distract themselves.

Without giving any spoilers, Adina’s “multitasking”, let’s call it, does come in very handy towards the end of the story. The satisfying ending steers kids in the right direction, showing that while it’s necessary to stay focused, there are all types in the world, and each has his or her role.

I “pre-read” this to see if I wanted to read it to my daughter, and I do! Highly recommend.
