SOPHIE MARKES just landed the ultimate writing gig--turning her award-winning superhero comic 'Shadows of the Imperium' into a screenplay for Card One Studios.
TRISTAN ECCLESTON just landed the ultimate acting role--playing the icy, brooding Lucius in Card One Studios' newest blockbuster.
Sophie's dream job quickly becomes a nightmare. Card One has completely changed her story, rendering it unrecognizable. Salvaging the script means plenty of on-set time... particularly with one unbearably gorgeous British actor.
Tristan's dream role is more precarious than ever. His father, British acting royalty, and his scheming ex-girlfriend are determined to sabotage his "frivolous" gig. Avoiding them and their snobbish expectations means spending more and more time with the quiet, nerdy, and irresistible Sophie.
But when Sophie learns the truth behind her butchered script--when Tristan learns the truth behind Sophie's icy facade--it'll take more than the might of the Imperium to thaw their hearts.
Sophie took a leap of faith when she left her 9 to 5 job to write comic books. Her risk pays off when she is hired as a script consultant when her comic book is going to be made into a big-budget blockbuster.
Tristan is taking a risk as well. Coming from an acting dynasty family, he has done a lot of well-respected work. His family feels that his desire to take a role in a 'superhero movie' is beneath them and actively discourage him from participating. Being a closet comic book fanboy, however, he persists and takes the role over these objections.
When the two first meet, Sophie is unlike anyone Tristan has ever met - she basically ignores him. He's used to deference and love from his fans, not being dismissed so totally by an attractive woman. Manipulated into a fake relationship for the press, the two begin to spend time together and realize that they have a lot in common and actually like each other.
Their relationship develops into something that brings both of them happiness, but when Tristan seemingly betrays Sophie, she abruptly breaks it off. Will they be able to overcome their differences? Will Sophie be able to forgive Tristan?
While Tristan is handsome and mindfully kind to his fans, he is a bit of a doormat. He is so concerned about what his father and family think that he isn't willing to lead the life that makes him happy and fulfilled. When he shines his kindness and care on Sophie, she basks in it, but still feels as though he is keeping parts of himself from her. Sophie is a bit harsh and uncompromising. When she realizes Tristan may have betrayed her trust, she tosses him aside without even trying to see his perspective before making her decision. In some ways, both of these characters are a bit too immature to be a part of an adult relationship.
With that said, the pacing of the story is good, the storyline is original and character development is fairly well done.
Overall, a nice romance read.
This is a voluntary review of an ARC of the story I received from Hidden Gems.
This story was one for the ages. It had something I adore: Comic Books!
The whole premise of the story was one of overcoming their own blockades to fall in love with each other and that was the cutest thing ever! Tristan needed to overcome his family holding him back from achieving actual happiness. Sophie needed to trust in herself more rather than looking outward for the justification and approval of her work.
Tristan and Sophie bolstered each other and made each other better. They made each other better and were able to confide in each other. It made their flirtation and nerdgasms adorable and a joy to read.
This story was essentially a "fake boyfriend/girlfriend" dislikes to friends to lovers adorableness. It was a good quick read and an interesting look into the mind of an author. And a legacy actor. It was rather interesting, the dichotomy, between the two, supposed, different worlds. It turns out that the two worlds aren't that different, at least, in this book. "Colder Than Ice" was steamy and hot, too. The relationship between Sophie and Tristan was hot and passionate.
Not only that, but the book also talked about subjects in the world today. Such as: "Captain Marvel". Originally a man, the comic book nerds are raising hell because the Marvel Cinematic Universe made her a woman. They combined "Captain Marvel" and "Ms. Marvel" in a way that made it seamless. But a lot of the men in the fandom are creating discourse because they don't like it. It came through in a very large way in this book and I thought it was a great way of putting the book in perspective.
In the end, this book was super enjoyable. I loved it.
Jane Galaxy is a new to me author, and it took me no time to get immersed in Colder than Ice, as it was an original read. Sophie Markes writes superhero comics, and now she gets to turn her award-winning Shadows of the Imperium into a screenplay for Card One Studios. She couldn't be more excited about being her baby being on the big screen. However, right after getting to the studio, Sophie learns that Card One has completely changed her story, and she's so mad that she's demanding that it be fixed. Throughout the fixing process, she gets to know Tristan Eccleston, one of the actors on the movie, and somehow, they end up fake dating, due to his exes meddling. However, somehow the fake dating turns into something more real, especially since their chemistry is electric. But Tristan has a family who doesn't approve of his life, her, and he's keeping secrets. Will Sophie survive the fallout? This story kept me on my toes throughout, and like I said above, the story line was original. Sophie & Tristan were fun together, not to mention quite HOT during sexy times. And the cast of secondaries added to the story, whether it be depth, humor, and/or drama in some cases. Those who added drama, also made for a few twists that allowed the f-bombs to drop as well. My biggest issues was the ending, as it was too abrupt, like there was all this buildup, then it just ended. Anyway, I will be reading more by this author in the future, as I like her style.
Romance against the current of the Hollywood world I did not know this author and it is a good discovery that shows a few things under the Hollywood light, as well as in English society. I loved the characters too, who in their relationship slowly surrender to each other, despite the walls they had erected to protect themselves. Sophie is the author of a fantasy comic. She is happy that her book is adapted, until she discovers that the scenario no longer corresponds to her story. In addition, she does not support the pretty boy that was chosen to play a leading role, actor Tristan. This one did not tell her, but he is the one who with his friend, rewrote her text, but, he appreciates Sophie, and tries to satisfy her, which would not be the case if he confessed to her that he is also author for the screenplay. For Sophie, finding her place with her new entourage, keeping her role, and balancing it with Hollywood mechanics is complex, especially when she begins to get closer to Tristan by being forced to lie about their relationship because of the paparrazis. I was very happily surprised with this book. I have found many times that books with a famous person with one who isn't is just a little story, lots of sex and a bit of action. Of course with the added element of the main female character being a comic book writer was a topper for me! This book however was a nice slow burn, good action, great character development and wonderful emotional scenes. With all that the book definitely has heart and is quite funny, I caught myself giggling out loud often. Followed of course with a few tears. Even though this is the second book in the series, it can definitely read as a stand alone. I hadn't read book one before trying this book. However, I will be going back to book one asap! Colder Than Ice is easily a multiple read book, with true to life characters, great flow plus of course the extra consistancy and continuity I demand. I'm very happy to have discovered Jane Galaxy and I very much look forward to reading more by her in the very near future.
This book is recommended for 18+ due to language and some sexual content.
I was given this book as an advance review copy, I chose to give it an HONEST review!
I'm writing this review with mixed emotions. I hated the first half of the book but loved the second half. I was really struggling to contact with either MC but just couldn't do that. But then we get to see the "behind the scenes" Tristan and something clicked and I started to enjoy myself. I really liked Sophie. She seemed like a woman who has her sh*t together but still had a long way to go in order to succeed in life like she is suppose to.
I think my main problem was that I didn't quite believe the attraction I was reading. It was missing that spark that I'm used to read in similar book. But still it was an OK read and I'm give it a (light) 3.5*.

This story made my inner nerd girl so giddily, goofily happy. It’s filled with drama, angst, sweetness, love and so many fantastic pop-culture references. I adore storylines that take me behind the scenes of the entertainment industry. Sophie brings the added bonuses of comic books and super heroes to this story. While Tristan adds an element of Brit-com that appeals to my BBC-fuelled childhood. I really loved that at the heart of this story, it’s about two misfits who find each other and find the courage to be their misfit selves in the face of a society that wants them to be something different. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
The first half was just bad. No real connection with any charecters and felt more like a Wikipedia page of L.A.'s people to know. Tristan is a repressed idiot who has more emotional distress than a teenager. It seriously took him 32 years to think for himself and to tell Mommy and Daddy no. They second half was more interesting but the book was ruined by then for me. This is one of those negative star books that you unfortunately can't unread. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

5 stars for uniqueness alone Ms. Galaxy has certainly distinguished herself from most other romance authors with this book. Sophie has written an award-winning comic that is being turned into a movie. Horrified when she learns that her story has been completely changed by the studio, she and Tristan (the lead actor) join forces with her to salvage her story. There are more twists to the story, and you won't see them coming. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I found this book very hard to get into. I put it down quite a bit and made myself finish it. It dragged quite a bit. I found a total lack of chemistry between the two main characters. I found them both to be quite immature.

I really enjoyed the geeky characters, the romance between them was great. Plus the setting was great, I always enjoy a good story set ‘behind the scenes’ of entertainment.
There is only one flaw I found. For me the story slowed down to a crawl in the middle. It took me over a day and a half to finish the last half of the book (which my kindle said it would take an hour).
There was some good and some bad, the plot and the characters portraying is great but they seem too immature at times that it was hard to truly like them. This is a voluntary review of an ARC of the story I received from Hidden Gems.
Being a dreamer isn't easy, but somehow Sophie and Tristan make a good match. Both of them take a chance for what they want. The chemistry between them is excellent, and the story is strong. This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.
I thought this was a great read. The characters were likeable and I enjoyed the plot. The style and spirit of this book reminded me of Sidney Bristol' s Gone Geek series and Penny Reid's books
