First of all, I would like to send a warm thanks to T.K. Ware for generously gifting me this book. Although he stated a review was not necessary, I felt that I should say something other than thank you to show my appreciation.
I found this to be an astonishing read discussing a situation that occurred involving Ebony Rose, the pastor's daughter. In these few pages, serious issues were discussed-& although the content was heavy, the style in which it was delivered made this a smooth flowing read. Character's emotions were felt as the storyline touched on a sensitive topic....This was a good read that I recommend to all.

Quick, but impactful

This is the first book I've read by this author but it won't be my last. Though The Pastor's Daughter was a short read, it communicated a powerful message within its pages. There is a consequence for sin is one of the lessons I learned from this story. God bless you, T.K. Ware.

I read a similar book to this some time ago, related to teen pregnancy in the church, and once again I'm saddened that scenarios like the one in The Pastor's Daughter are all too true to life. You can definitely feel the author's heart and desire to help those who find themselves in a similar situation to Ebony's. While I didn't agree with every theological point in this story, there was definitely a lot to think about.

WHAT I LIKED:

-This is a short book and the subject matter was interesting (in a sad way) so it was a quick read.
-The 'confessions' provided extra insight into Ebony's character.
-Like I said, you can see the author's passion for helping people in this story.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:

-The plot could have been more interesting. There were quite a few 'preachy' passages that I skimmed over because they lasted for so long. (And this isn't a long book.)
-The writing was iffy. Phrases like "she cuddled the toilet" (when one character is vomiting) weren't my favorite. I think the story could benefit from a line editor.
-Since this book was short, I didn't get much of a chance to get to know the different characters. I would have liked to.

Overall, this book is a quick read that most Christians would find interesting and perhaps even convicting.

T.K. Ware delivers yet another unforgettable masterpiece that grips you from the very first page and doesn’t let go. Ebony’s story isn’t just about mistakes—it’s about humanity, conviction, and the powerful, sometimes painful, path to redemption.

This book dives deep into the hidden battles that so many face behind closed doors—faith, shame, love, and forgiveness—yet T.K. Ware tells it with such honesty and emotional intensity that you can’t help but see yourself in Ebony’s struggle. Every twist cuts deep, every confession feels real, and by the end, you’re left reflecting on grace, truth, and how far one can go to find peace with God and self.

It’s more than a story—it’s a message. A wake-up call. A testimony wrapped in fiction.

T.K. Ware has a gift for turning real-life pain into divine purpose, and this book proves it beyond question.

I didn't enjoy the way the author used this book as a soap box from which she felt the need to prescribe her own views on the listener. As she herself states in the course of the book, this story is not about her or her experiences, but is intended as a means to convey her own message. This is something she does very forcefully and unequivocally. I think that the book's description is too vague and short on details, since it does not convey the author's intention and motive in writing this book. Thankfully, the book itself was short, so it had that in its favour.

That having been said, I can't fault the narrator's work on this audiobook, which was excellent. Her voice and character-work was a perfect match for the material she had to work with, and I commend her for this.

An emotional read

I always enjoy reading one of Ware's story, and this one didn't disappoint. The book was a short read, but it was full of emotions and formalities within the church. I'm not a religious person, but this book made me feel for Ebony. The story feels familiar and is relatable, and in some ways that is sad. I enjoyed this story and found the characters well thought out and created.

The Pastor’s Daughter (The Rose of Ebony) by TK Ware was something of a thought provoking tale. Being a short story, a lot was fitted into a small space and it did move rather quickly but that’s no bad thing. I liked the way the book was written – chapters telling of the girl's plight interspersed with confessions from Ebony herself, written in the first person. It gave a lot of depth and meaning to the story and made you see things not just as an outsider but as a confidante, from a more privileged position.

It is a Christian book but the messages contained within are not aimed solely at the Christian community. At one point during a confessional, Ebony asks that we not judge her and that is something that happens all too quickly these days – people being judged and tried before they have had a chance to tell their side. I enjoyed the book very much, the characters were developed in such a way that it was easy to identify with them and the storyline is one that is all too common these days. A good book, I would recommend it to anyone who likes short stories.

The Pastor’s Daughter

Was this a novel or biography? The events that took place in this story happen so often in church that it is sad. As Ebony Rose told her story I wanted to feel sympathy for her, but I will admit most of the time I was angry with her. And then she would say some of the most profound things through her personal confessions that let you know none of us are exempt from falling prey to sin. Through those confessions I got to see a broken person who was in need of the love of our sweet Savior. They way Ebony opened up her heart to let people who are involved in sin know that they need to flee from it, was beautiful. She didn't hold back or try to sugarcoat her experience. What she went through millions of people are going through now and Ebony let's them know they are not alone and that they must repent and surrender to God to be made whole. The Pastor’s Daughter lets you know you can't be holy if you are not whole.

I received this novella from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my review of this novella.

The Pastor's Daughter is a novella (about 50 pages) about a pastor's daughter who had a relationship with a married man and became pregnant. I like this book because it tackles an issue that is not dealt with much in the church: fornification. Although many churches rightly advise against sex outside of marriage, they do not talk much about what should happen if someone is found guilty of such a sin.

The writing style of the novella did not grasp me as much as I wanted it to, but that can be a difficult task in such a small novella. Ware shows incredible promise of becoming a wonderful inspirational writer.

The Pastor's Daughter
By: T K Ware

This book has a strong message. A bishop's daughter had an affair with a married preacher and became pregnant. The choices and lack of faith and decisions made by her and the father of her child effect more than just the two of them. It is also a story of forgiveness and hopefully redemption. The church isn't a place of perfect people, it's a place for imperfect people to let God work in their lives.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Barbara Oliver helped spread the message.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A Good Short Story.

Overall, I did like the book. It is a quick and fast paced read. One thing I wasn't a big fan of was the formalities in the names, even though it was sort of necessary to the story's setting. I also wish I would have gotten to know the characters more, instead of just their circumstances. I would recommend this book because it discusses at topic, which I don't always see in Christian literature.

A Story of Reality

This is a thought-provoking read. The title alone caught my attention and pushed me to read. The first chapter throws you right in the climatic-drama driven book, with heart-felt confessions. This book is a story about a young girl's struggle with the stigmata that comes alone with being a preacher's kid, and the troubles that could arise from temptation.
