Called by the Bear - The Next Generation - Part 1

Rate this book
Audrey - I’m not sure what I was hoping to find when I returned to my mother’s hometown in California twenty-five years after she'd moved to Maine. It sure wasn’t the hot stranger I had to leave behind when I got word my brother had been kidnapped. The guy was supposed to be a one-night stand, but even though I’m three thousand miles away from him, he’s crowding my mind with memories when my focus needs to on my brother Connell’s rescue. Even more importantly, I should be thinking about the implications of the Eradicators’ return for vengeance against werebear.

Max - Audrey Le Roux had no idea her carefree days were about to come to an abrupt halt the night we met. But I did. I shouldn’t have let her see me… or have me. I was caught in her spell the way she was in mine, and my weakness may have ruined everything. As the alpha in line to take over for the woman who saved an entire werebear kingdom, Audrey’s about to be tested in ways only the strongest can survive. To do so she’s going to need me by her side, but she has to earn my heart in a contest she has no idea she’s entered. One I can’t lose.

It's been 25 years since Carly and Sierra took that fateful trip following their dreams and now it seems like Carly's daughter Audrey, one of her triplets, is about to be treated to almost the same adventure, only it's the other way around. Her mate is coming to her, what she thought was a one night stand may turn out to be the fulfillment of a prophecy she's a big part of.

Max can't get Audrey out of his mind and heart he has known since before he had that passionate night with her that she was his and now that she has left on a family emergency back to Maine, he feels this strong pull to follow her there. He knows of the prophecy, but not the very important part he will play in it and all that can be lost also.

This is going to turn out to be even more intriguing than her mothers journey and subsequent mating was. The next Generation is going to be full of magic and very mysterious encounters.

CAPTIVATING BEGINNING

This new series grabs your attention from the start with a thrilling plot, romance, dynamic characters, humor, action, and a bit of magic. Could not put down my reader until the last word.

Audrey a werebear is in line to become an alpha. To escape her soon to be responsibilities she left Maine and went to her mom's hometown in California for a year. On the night before a horrific phone call from home, she spends a steamy evening with a man who has not left her mind or heart. Audrey's brother is missing and it is feared that the Eradicators are responsible for his disappearance. With a heavy heart she leaves Cali to go back to Maine to help find her brother. Max part werebear/witch is also an alpha and fears he should have waited to be with Audrey. He has his own mission to conquer. Josie and Madison are roommates at a University each with their own agenda for being in Maine. The fate of these characters is intertwined.

CAPTIVATING fast-paced well-written read. The characters come alive with vivid scene descriptions and backstories give insight into their personas. Loved the characters and storyline. I am exciting to learn what happens next in this thrilling series. {On a voluntary basis I reviewed a pre-release copy.}

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I will collect this series when I can!

This is the 1st part in a new serial that is a spin-off from Called by the Bear and is about their children. It is for adults only due to content. This is a serial, and it means this is a part of the whole and not a whole book. If you do not like cliffhangers, you may want to wait until the serial is complete.

This story is told from several viewpoints and is the starting point. It is some of each one’s story. I haven’t read every book in this world, so I may be missing things between the first serial and this current one. It engaged me and made me want more to see what would happen next. It also makes me want to read all those in between serials that I’m haven’t read yet. Audrey is worried about her brother, and she heads home even though she suspects she’s met her mate the night before. He is following her back home too, but he is driving across the country.

I recommend to any fan of Violet’s serial’s who love this world and want to know about their kids!!

Quick read that peaked my interest. This is just part 1 of a story, so there isn't any conclusions in this book. This is a set-up book. There's 2 storylines started in this book. The first one is about Audrey and Max. Audrey is a were-bear and she's still trying to figure out what she wants. Max also has were-bear connections, but he has a bit more to him than that. Audrey's in for a surprise. Audrey and Max have a hot night together and feel a deep connection, but Audrey is called home because one of her brothers is missing. I'm liking these 2 together so far, and am excited to see how their story plays out. I preferred this storyline over the other one so far. The next is about Josie. She has been coerced into being part of a group set on taking out the were-bears. She's undercover at a college, and has had a tough life so far. Her roommate is Madison, who has some secrets of her own. There's a lot of mystery in the works so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing how these stories develop. There's potential for there to be lots of interesting scenarios. It should be interesting.

Great family continuation

I have read a number of Ms Vaughn's book's, the main reason I grabbed this series is it's the continuation of "Called by the Bear" series.
What entices me most with her book's is even though they are paranormal romance, she loves to bring mystery, suspense, different types of drama and definitely ongoing excitement that pulls her reader's into the wonderful world she has created.
I always find myself getting caught up with the characters who end up being the centre of the dramatic action that follows many of the Bears.
We often meet new additions to their clan, but it's never a simple romance story, a challenge or threat is often part of what draws you deeply into this world of new romance with the meeting of new mates who seem to find themselves caught up in a prophecy or simply a threat by another clan or bear.
Always a great read, which will keep you wanting to turn the pages until you at least know why drama has found it's way into this clans lives again.

As a fan of the first series, it is interesting to revisit the characters and meet their children.

The story alternates back and forth among several characters just like the other series.

Audrey is someone who knows what is expected of her and wants to enjoy her freedom while she can. She is loyal but does not accept the status quo easily. She is brought home to help save her brother right after she meets someone who captures her attention. Max knows they belong together and his own mission. You also have a young woman who has her own dangerous mission that she is forced to take part in and I am looking forward to seeing how she changes as she learns the truth.

This first part definitely captures your attention. It has great characters and an intriguing storyline that leaves you wanting more at the end.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

I loved it
Audrey the next alpha of the LeRoux clan goes to her mom's home town for a year on her last night there she meet a guy she thinks is human. They have a one night stand because she gets the call that one of her brothers are missing and leave.

Josie was arrested and convicted for killing a cop. She didn't do it then the eradicators break her out now teach her to shot and kill for them to make her the fall guy for them again. Oh yes and she is 1\2 werebear. They hate her and her kind.

Max is a werebear not human like Audrey thinks he cloaked himself. Because he knew she wasn't ready for him but he had to be next his true mate.

Ok that's just for starters lol full of amazing adventures I can't wait for more book! Fun, action, drama, mystery and more don't miss them. It like a werebear soap opera.
Voluntarily review a copy and I honestly love it.

Ugh cliffhangers....nooo. But it's soo good of a story so far. Round 2 on the next generation of werebears we dive into part 1. Characters are well written. Little slow in the introduction of them, but it's a good start and looks like there's gonna be tons of action, drama and romance with a side dish of shifters and magic. What more could I want :)
Aubrey is the next alpha in line. Not that she wants too. But she promised in a year she would return and take her place a she is needed. Unknown to her a ton of things are happening around her and with the mysterious man in her bed. She can't think, but one thing is for sure. This man may be her mate, and but her family needs her more. Will she be able to swallow her pride and become the alpha of the clan. That her father keeps pushing on her?

The Next Generation. This is the start of another great series if the first book is any indication. Got the author's fans who have read the original series it will remind of some wonderful characters you've never forgotten. If you are new to the series, the author does a good job of introducing those characters with the new ones.

Now, the werebears are battling a group of "Hunters" who want to wipe out the entire werebear population. They are organized and dangerous. Along with working to keep that from happening Audrey can't get Max off her mind. He is pretty sure he understands why they feel this strong pull.

The short read introduces the intrigue to follow and some of the characters we will surely grow to love. I'm ready for part two.

YES YES YES! Ok so I loved the original, and now 25 years later I love the start of the kids adventure. Audrey wanted to get away, but to do that she had to make a deal with her parents to return. Before that time comes, one of her brothers go missing. Max, WAS suppose to be a one night stand. How in the heck does he know her name? Oh, that is just one of the mysteries. There is so much going on in this first installment that it was very had to put down. I was hooked. It kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing what was going to happen next. As with the original Called by the Bear, there is a HUGE cliffhanger. Knowing Ms. Vaughn, there will be further twists and turns before the end.
Bring on Part 2!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I was wondering what was going to happen with the kids and this was an interesting start....

Possible SPOILERS

Come on an adventure with Audrey, Josie, Max, and Madison, where they all gather in Maine for different reasons, and yet they will soon find out they are all connected. Audrey is a werebear triplet destined to someday rule the Le Roux clan with one of her brothers. Josie is a half werebear being forced to work for the erdicators, humans out to destroy all werebear kind. Max is half werebear half witch, and 100% in trouble, he has found his mate, but she is not ready to be his, yet she desperately needs his help and support. Madison is on the hunt for her biological father, and all clues point to Maine. Join them all in a grand werebear adventure!

The first book to this series was interesting. It was left with a cliffhanger. So far, Audrey and the clan need to find the third twin. She also needs to be reconnected with Max, who seems to be her mate. I’m not sure what’s entirely going on with Madison and how she plays a part in the series. Josie apparently has a reason to be back in college and seeking to date a werebear. Just a warning that there are four POVs. I personally have no problem with it as I love insight from more than one character.

This story ignites quickly, and I am caught up in the urgency pouring off the pages. You don’t have to read the previous generations series, but it is totally worth it if you do. This book one of the next generation gives you just the right amount of back story to address any possible past mysteries. With this new start, this author worked her skilled magic and has me drooling for the next installment! I must...I totally must! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

I loved the first set of the Called by the Bear series so when I found out that there would be a Next Generation series I jumped up and down in my chair with happiness. This book is about Audrey, one of the triplets from the first series. Even though this book gives enough of the back story to address the past, why would you want to miss out on all the lovely goodness from the first series!! Addictive Part 1

I am so into this story I am willing the days away quickly until 1st March when 2nd instalment is available. This story offers so much creatively, the multi-dimensional character view points are so well entwined and so cleverly written that you can’t turn the pAges quick enough to find out what happens next. It’s emotive, passionate in feelings and I am sure more steam will be delivered as the story evolves. Best part 1 that I have read for a long time.....

The start of a new series and I know I want to read the next book. I found it to be well written and it kept my interest throughout. This is the first part of Audrey Le Roux's story she has a one night stand with Max who is part were-bear and part witch. There is drama, danger, suspense, humans who call themselves Eradicators. Good start to a new series. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This book brings back characters from the previous series and we also meet several new ones of the next generation. Some know their who their mates are, some are looking and others just seem confused on who and what they are. Definitely enjoying some of these new characters and can’t wait to read more.

Shifters, humans and suspense

This is a continuation of the previous stories but twisted to the children as they are now adults. Is history repeating its self? I highly recommend this book and can't wait to see where book two leads.

Interesting!

The different points of view were easy enough to follow. It just took a little getting used to. It did allow for seeing the bigger picture. Can't wait to see how the story ends.

Cliff hanger

This story has real potential, but it is a horrible cliff hanger. It doesn't even stop at a reasonable spot. I don't like feeling like I'm being manipulated to buy the next book. If the story is good enough that shouldn't be necessary.
