My Kindle Unlimited books can be found on my website (www.dwehrsfwriter dot com). In the dying days of the war in Europe, Nazi scientists manage to put an atomic bomb into orbit. Only a miracle prevented them from bringing it back down on New York. Thirteen years later, with the bomb still in orbit, the Black Sun, a secret neo-Nazi organization with considerable financial and technological resources at their command, builds the Seawolf 4, a super-sub capable of traveling under the Arctic icecap, where it will transmit the order for the satellite bomb to descend on the USSR while at the same time launching a A-bomb armed cruise missile at an American city in the hopes of starting World War III. The only hope of stopping them are the new US nuclear subs, Nautilus and Skate. Can one of them find the Seawolf 4 in time? Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler fans will enjoy this tension-filled thriller that combines real world events in the 40’s and 50’s with a dash of science fiction. This novel is fiction but you’ll be astonished by how much of it is true when you read the Author’s comments at the end. Technothriller, military thriller, military science fiction, alternative history, action and adventure, war

This should be a movie!

This book is intense, set around wartime, and primarily in submarines. The Hunt for Seawolf 4 should become a movie because the storyline is so plausible, it includes many true historical facts, it is very compelling and captivating, and the right director could make this into a terrific, thrilling wartime film! The narrator has different voices for the characters, which makes the book easier to follow and enhances the audible. Dietmar Wehr has done extensive historical research around his thriller, which gives the story greater relevance. One of my favorite aspects of some recent audiobooks (I listened to the Audible) is the ability to listen to the author's interview or comments after the end of the book. Mr. Wehr talks about the historical research the completed to write this, and discusses the historically accurate details that he included, as well as the non-historical. I found The Hunt for Seawolf 4 intriguing and enlightening. Don't hesitate to get this one!

The Hunt For Seawolf 4: A War Against The Black Sun novel by Dietmar Wehr is a riveting science fiction/alternate history/what if thriller. The story flows well with action and suspense in the aftermath of World War II against the Nazi survivors in hiding. It takes elements of history and spins a behind the scenes look at what really could have happened. This was a first sortie into this genre and it is a success. Grab a copy today and you won't be disappointed.

Fictional Non-Fiction?

The story itself was well written and enjoyable. I was hoping for more the sub vs sub action, but overall I enjoyed the book. What I liked best was the fiction vs non-fiction of the book, that the author does at the conclusion of the story.

The Hunt for Seawolf 4 is a historical fiction novel set in the last days of World War II and recounts an interesting “what if” tale of the last fragments of the Nazi regime as the war ended and they fled from Germany. It’s part historical fact and part creative storytelling with a bit of conspiracy theory thrown in -- but all great reading. After the book is over, the author sorts fact from fiction in an interesting (and educational) review of what is actually part of the historical record and what was created for the novel.

When you get right down to it, Dietmar Wehr just tells a damn good story. I’ve read at least 8 of his novels and his style has been fairly consistent through all of them. In The Hunt for Seawolf 4, the plot unfolds in snapshots or small scenes that skip forward in time; each scene reveals key events, conversations, and characters in the story. There is no ultra-immersive world-building or characters with incredible depth and development, but there is both a very active narrative and uncommonly compelling story. It’s reminiscent of a theatrical production and I think it works very well, particularly for this “historic” work.

Special thanks to Dietmar Wehr, who gave me this book as part of his mailing list promotion. If you like his work, I strongly suggest finding Wehr's website and joining his mailing list where you can find his latest updates, promotions, and occasionally free books!

For the audiobook version:
Luke Daniels always delivers a solid performance when narrating. Though he isn’t my favorite narrator out there, I’ll always give any of his books a shot if I see his name -- I know that the narration will be good. His narration of The Hunt for Seawolf 4 is well done and he tackles a variety of unique character voices, some with difficult accents. My only critique is that I think he struggles with some of the female characters in the story, but overall, it’s very good.
