A fantastic read! A compelling and insightful plot that draws on the universal themes of love, adventure, good and evil as well as a strong message about current global issues. The author's writing style is very engaging and refreshing. An absolute pleasure to read and most definitely looking forward to more material.

Former Army Captain Gabriel Stone knows something is wrong when the earth and wind don't feel right plus the apex predators start acting strange. So when he is attacked by a vampire he convinces himself that life is over and feels he has no alternative than to live alone in an old forest cabin while he tries to find and kill the creature who changed him. While hunting he ends up at an old farmhouse where he meets the fiery, beautiful and headstrong Aurora. He then realises that nothing is as it seems as she is what is known as a Descendant (the daughter of a vampire father and Amazon warrior mother) so has lots of strength and also has a special connection to the earth and its creatures. Auror has spent her life looking for the creatures who killed her parents and she realises that Gabriel is the key to destroying them. Can they survive and find and defeat the dark forces that threaten the planet that we all call home?

This is a lovely paranormal story that has a foundation of the classic good versus evil but also covers the environment and the impacts that humans have had to the natural world around us. A little bit moralistic at the end but still this is a great story that was very enjoyable. It was well written and everything was easy to understand and relate back to real life. The Reapers were suitably evil and demonic and I did enjoy the twisting around of the vampires being good guys for a change.

I loved this book..It seamlessly brings fiction together with problems todays world is dealing with. The characters are so vivid you feel you know them so its impossible to put this novel down till you know the eventual outcome..

While the concept is interesting, and the storyline has promise, the dialog needs work and the characters need some rethinking.

Aurora is a very entitled, self important main character which makes it very difficult to like her, and Gabriel is extremely childish and petulant which also makes him a very difficult MC to like. Between the two, the storyline falters because it becomes to difficult to get past their personalities to get to the meat of the story.

I will read the next book in the series to see if there is improvement since the storyline definitely has promise.

DNF. Too much explaining but not the right things. Why would the humans of one small town need protection from vampires who basically not longer exist? The story was just too disjointed.
