This little Christmas story is short and sweet and the perfect present for my coworkers. Also, it's timey wimey with throwbacks to the previous duology and foreshadows two duologies to come.
I won a signed paperback copy from the author. (Thank you!) The author did not pay me for a review and all the thoughts here are my own honest opinion.
4.5 Stars!!! =D
A really fun, cute, short story for Christmas. I really like how it retold the "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.
There was a lot of time travel. I really liked the methods of how they tried to avoid paradox's, which are a big deal for me while reading time traveling books. *Cough, cough* (I read too many scientific time traveling books XD).
I really felt like this book was also supposed to be a prediction for a sequel book in the series. So while also retelling a famous Christmas story, it also makes you want to pick up the next book to figure out if the predictions are going to happen or not. ;)
This series has had time traveled before, and the main thing that I like about it in this series is that none of the stuff that happens is necessary set in stone.
Also can I just say how much I loved Jack in this one? He just made me laugh more than once. Though, just saying "hi" to your sister Jack, is not going to cut it. You need to spend some time of her when you get the chance.
I do have one question: Why was Susan even working on a device for time travel for??? Didn't she even learn about all the trouble she had with another device she and her best friends had made!?!?! And what is her reasoning? Is she trying to build something to fix what happened between her friend? (Which means that this device also has to be able to go to other parallel worlds as well). Is she doing this just because she wants to make a cool device for science? (Like Connor Mason in the TV series "Timeless"). I mean, right now she is in a pretty a good place with her family. They aren't having any problems with many bad guys at the moment. Is it because of Kristian? That she is trying to un-frame him? (Maybe she thinks it's partly her fault?). Is it because of her mental problems?
Those who want a short, fun, cute, Christmas story that retells Charles Dickens's classic, "A Christmas Carol". Someone who wants a fun little time traveling story which will make you want to pick up the next book in the series.
This is a really quick read that the title fits the story. The time travel and teleportation adds an interesting element. I love that there is a what has happened so far so I could enjoy the novella without worrying about not knowing what has lead up to this story. This is a nice take on a classic story.
