I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful volume of images drawn from all of the world's deserts. But this is much more than simply a photography book. It's also an excellent primer on the geography of deserts and their variation by region, with information on desert adapted plants, animals and cultures. Reading this brought back many memories of my own travels in the deserts of East Asia, North America, Arabia and Africa. And it sent me running for my map case to plan future journeys. If you love deserts, or even if you're just curious about them, then search out a copy of this book. Oh, and the Foreword by Michael Asher is also deserving of special mention - beautifully written.
