Lethal Acoustics

Rate this book
Everybody heard the mysterious noises. Nobody imagined their sinister purpose.

Manju created history of sorts when she set up The Quack House, a place that offered to listen to anything that a person had to say. Some of the things her clients told her made her life exciting beyond her wildest expectations.

The curious noises applied brakes to that happy story.

Quacks, roars, ghost whispers, clangs, and other mindboggling sounds erupted suddenly out of the upholstery in the Quack House and died out with the same speed before anyone could come to grips with what was happening. Sunil, her husband, was sure somebody was out to sabotage her. But, why?

And then Manju disappeared!

Read this nail biting, fast paced, unputdownable thriller novella from The Quack House Series to find out what happened to Manju and discover the hidden agenda behind the Lethal Acoustics.

Lethal Acoustics is a fairly quick read and the story is interesting. It has a touch of suspense, a decent and different plot, but is found wanting in the finish.

Manju runs an enterprise called ‘The Quack House’ where she listens to people with problems who seek to unburden themselves and want advice. Manu is passionate about it, though her husband Sunil does not see much potential for it and threatens to cut off funding. Manju is determined to surge ahead though. She runs into an unexpected problem when there are strange noises at her workplace. This unnerves visitors and threatens to ruin her business.

A preliminary investigation reveals that these noises could be part of a larger plot where Manju is either an accidental or deliberate target. Some events subsequently also bring up past traumas for Manju.

The story is different, and an easy read which moves smoothly. While the plot is decent, the motive is very poorly tied up at the end which reduces the book’s appeal considerably.

My rating: 3.25 / 5.

Book Title:  Lethal Acoustics (The Quack House Series – Book 2)
Author:  Rani Ramakrishnan
Format: Ebook

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Lethal Acoustics ' is very unique and mysterious.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is an abstract image of a couple with a solid violet colored background. Mystery and creativity are the main characteristics of violet color, the image aptly suits the title.

Plot:
Manju, the dynamic woman who is the creator of TQH along with her husband Sunil gets into a kidnap mystery case in the previous book's last story where it ends with a smile on Manju's face. But since that day Sunil unknowingly wants her TQH to be shut down to avoid any further life-threatening incidents. Manju senses his thoughts and tears them down in the budding stage itself.

IN this course of time, Manju comes across a set of students who wish to take up the stress relief programme in Manju's TQH. While she sets up a meeting with them and during the session, Manju starts hearing some sounds around that seem to be very abnormal and unusual.

Manju's mind tickles and she decides to solve that mystery.  Well, is that a mystery? Or a prank? or something unexplainable? To know this, read the book.

What I like:
1. The storytelling skills
2. Good amount of healthy humor with a little pinch of suspense
3. The swift language in the story.

What I didn't like:
There is nothing to dislike in the story.

Characters:
Like in the first book of the TQH series,  in this second book also all the characters are very well plotted and every character is very close to reality.

Narration:
An interesting and engaging realistic narration which is very much relatable is observed in the story.

Language & Grammar:
A simple yet effective and good language with nice vocabulary is found in the story.

My Final Verdict:
A good tea time interesting read!

Book Title: 4/5
Book Cover: 4/5
Plot: 4/5
Characters: 4/5
Narration: 4/5

Firstly, thanks to the author for giving me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
So,this book can be divided into two parts. The first one is boring where unnecessary characters and their dressing styles are discussed. The story picks up when we reach the seventh chapter and then the book cannot be put down without finishing it.Even after the book ended, there were lot of questions unanswered.Hence,it seems that the author was in a hurry to finish the book.
Another aspect I want to share light on is the use of proper nouns again and again. This irritates the reader. Why not use pronouns?
The book is average.Hence,it deserves two stars out of five.

Lethal Acoustics.

This was sent by the author in exchange of an honest review.

The protagonist of this book is Manju, founder of The Quack House where she listens to the woes of people and inturn tries providing solutions. When TQH has trouble financially and also puts Manju's life in danger due to the nature of her work, her husband Sunil, tries to shut it down. Sunil fears for his wife's safety and pleads repeatedly to find another career option. A tiff develops within the couple while Manju thinks of alternative options to save her company.

She finds a blessing in disguise when her schoolmate approaches her with a business proposal. Inspite of Sunil's hesitancy, Manju considers accepting the proposal. A series of confusing incidents takes place in TQH which leaves Manju perplexed and Sunil approaches The Police to be on the safer side. Things go awry when she discovers the root cause of the disturbance that has been planted in TQH premises. A gadget, strikingly similar to that of a marble will be discovered by her which Sunil takes into consideration and hires a team to find more details about it.

Meanwhile, Manju finds herself in danger as Sunil always predicted and escapes death only by inches. Read the book to know more details about the story behind the marble. Is it just a harmless gadget or something more dangerous? Who wants to harm Manju? All these questions will be answered as you read through. This book falls under mystery and thriller genre which are two of my favorites. The story lacked spark and often felt dragged. The flow of the book wasn't too smooth and my mind often wandered around. The book could have been cut down to important parts, keeping it crisp and clean.

The author however has a stronghold on the language and writes with ease. The story is unique, but could have been much more sharp. I would rate this book 2.8/5.

Lethal Acoustics is a sequel to The Quack House. This is a story of a strong independent woman Manju and her Quack house.
Manju runs a quack house which goes by TQH. The organization is supported financially by her husband Sunil. This is a place where people could come and relieve their stress or burdens and Manju gives a patient hearing to all of them. Though she is not trained for this profession, still she really enjoys her job and feels that she can make a difference in people’s lives.

Lethal Acoustics by Rani Ramakrishnan is a wonderful crime thriller holding 9 stories. It is a story of action adventure pain and mystery. The language is good and the narrative prose hooks the reader from the beginning to the end.

Both the title and cover are amazing .

The storyteller in the authoress reflect n each every twist and turn and there are sufficient knots to instigate interest in the author to turn the pages. Characters are realistic and relatable.

The stories revolve around the TQH The quack house and it relates to the events happened in the life of the protagonist Manju and her clients. There are conflicts between her and her husband Sunil. Manju happens to meet her college mate Prem and he suggests go for a partnership contract.

The story goes like this and there are thrilling scenes which inside a terror attack. There is sufficient suspense to coax the reader to know what is going to happen next. Each story ends with a revelation which would definitely shock the readers.

My favorite is Love Triangle and A picture worth a Thousand words. Characterwise I like Sunil for his wit and wisdom.

This gripping storytelling about the happening in the present era whereas there is enmity, hope and sudden turn of events.

It is a heartwarming tale of love, duty, and courage. Through this gripping and thrilling fiction the authoress depicts the unexpected and inexplicable situations and circumstances beyond our control affecting the balance in work, personal, and social life.

I recommend this book to all fans of thrillers for all the thrill it gives.

The leading character Manju has set up the Quack House(TQH) to help other’s speak up their mind. Things start to take lethal turn from then. Manju’s husband Sunil is all worried and advises his wife to stop TQH. Manju is stubborn and continues without any hesitation. Meanwhile Manju’s classmate approaches her with a great deal for TQH. What’s his motive? Is she jealous? Does her past has anything to do with this?
Then the noises in the office make Sunil all determined to find the culprit. But can he save his wife?
The things I love about this book:
• If you are someone likes a quick read then it is for you.
• If you are thinking of increasing your vocabulary skill then it is a book for you. At least in my case it did.
• The storyline is good.
The things that can be improved:
• More character detailing. Reader needs to fall in love with characters before judging them.
• Sometimes plots moved so abruptly it kept me thinking where was I? Could have been more elaborative and dramatic.

This book was surprisingly very good, Rani Ramakrishnan certainly has her way with words, Manju the main protagonist is going through some past issues. She is an entrepreneur with a family which includes the husband Sunil and daughter. She comes up with an idea of Quack house which is therapy but with a little twist, financed by the Sunil. Eventually, Sunil decides to back out from the Quack house project as he believes it's not safe for Manju. Manju, a headstrong and stubborn woman, doesn't listen to the husband and wants to continue running her venture at any cost.
She finds an investor and continues with her venture not listening to her husband.
I won't give more spoilers, to know more I suggest reading the book.

The things which stood out for me is Rani's language, she is good. The story could have been a little more paced, I found it a little repetitive at times.

Still, I enjoyed reading it.

Highly recommended.

Happy Reading!

Well !! First of all, Hurray to a Tamilnadu writer :) All the best !! Way to go !!

Title: Lethal Acoustics
Author: Rani Ramakrishnan

This book is second in the series (They both are standalone). The protagonist Manju runs a business where she provides therapy sessions to the people in need. One fine day her sessions are being disturbed by a series of unwanted noises and in spite of a thorough search, Manju’s team fails to identify the source of the interruption. Frustrated and determined Manju decides to unmask the hindrance (to her business). To her shock and dismay, she uncloaks more things than the expected.

The author has successfully built a stronger heroine and her language is quiet strong :)
The plot of the story and the writing is not coherent. And there were so many boring details (Like detailed description of her clothes) which occupied more pages than the actual story.

What did I learn from this book??: I have learnt so many interesting words. E.g.: onomatopoeia ;)

Manju runs ‘The Quack House’ TQH— a place for people in need to come relieve their burdens, seek solutions to their daily issues. Manju though not a trained professional, enjoys her job as a counselor and therapist giving a patient ear to her clients and offering solutions which she feels right. Her husband Sunil majorly finances Manju’s business and Sunil is on verge of closing down TQH after Manju’s narrow escape in a kidnapping fiasco involving a previous client.

While Manju is struggling to keep her firm running and looking out for new investors, strange sounds start coming out of her office randomly, scaring away the existing customers. Thus starts the roller coaster ride for Manju and her family trying to find the cause of these strange sounds, and if this simple couple indeed had some enemies trying to sabotage their business, life and reputation.

This is a short story revolving around Manju and her Quack house, her clients and the mysterious sounds which at outset are random sounds to finally revealing the bigger conspiracy behind them. Manju as a person comes across as smart enough for her chosen profession and at times very silly and childish, which the author could have avoided. A more uniform character graph could have helped readers relate more to Manju and her actions.

Also, the suspense is maintained well almost till the end, though some hints are given away at regular intervals. The story grips the reader till almost pre-climax and once the truth is revealed there are unexplained facts, which make the story feel incomplete. Either the author intended to leave the ending abrupt for a sequel/next book in the sequence since this is book2 in the series, or it is intentional to shock the reader. For the backdrop and story line chosen by the author, a little more interesting end could have done wonders.

Nonetheless the story maintains the suspense well till the end and the second half is especially very engaging. Overall, this one makes for a good, onetime read.

‘Lethal Acoustics’ follows 'Hear and Here' by by Rani Ramakrishnan in her Quack House series.
The protagonist Manju has suffered a major trauma over ten years ago, for which she had therapy. She decides to start her own venture where she can hear others' problems, and offer possible solutions. This is her 'Quack House', her dream venture run by her and financed by her husband Sunil. When cranks threaten her life and sanity, Sunil suggests closing down the Quack House, but she stubbornly refuses, yet protects her in all ways.
While she is dealing with a client, sudden noises erupt, then stop, then different noises erupt, by which the session is disturbed. This continues, but the source of these noises remains a mystery. What is causing these noises? Who is behind it and what is their purpose? These are the questions that form the suspense and are revealed.
The linear narration and clear language with a good plot make this a good read. Other positive ingredients are humour, natural dialogues, and mostly believable situations, but not including coincidences or the source of these lethal acoustics.
This is better than the author's earlier work, but could still be better in terms of more apt words, crisper language, and better punctuation. It should be a pleasure to read the next book of this series.

*The suspense maintained throughout the story is very gripping*

The story begins with Manju's husband adamant on shutting down her business offering a sympathetic ear to whoever want to speak their heart out for a fee. Ignoring past unfortunate events, Manju continues to operate even though her husband stops financing the business in order to shut it down on its own. Enthusiastic Manju had known little about upcoming unexpected circumstances. Out of nowhere, one day, animal sounds start to play in her office from an unknown source. This is considered as a huge trouble by her husband but she ignores it as she's much more excited about a partnership offer by their college friend owning a major company.

Where did these sounds come from? Who did such a nuisance? Would they be devilish enough to be a threat to human life? Moreover, will they be able to catch the culprit? The corporate partnership, the life threat, the suspense, the fear, the uncertainty, the thrill, this short story has it all !!! Go grab your read on Amazon Kindle !!! Believe me you won't be disappointed.

The first part of story made think if it actually happens for real ,what would be the legal consequences?!!

Lethal Acoustics is the story of Manju and her shop. The Quack House is a shop running by listening to others. It runs full and gives Manju satisfaction. However, how will it be when her customers have to listen to something, that too weird ones? Alright, the source of the sound is known, but why? Is it part of something else, something big? What was coming up? Grab the book!!!

Lethal Acoustics is about acoustics playing a major role in the life of a couple. The plot of the book is good and quite believable. The language is simple and flows without hiccups. Look out for the author’s efforts in describing certain scene to the fine details.

But for a thriller story, the narration isn’t tight. Much of the earlier part of the story has too much vanity. If the readers ask whether the later part is good then I would say that it all happens within the blink of an eye; so fast that a revisit would be due. The climax leaves the reader high and dry and makes one ask for more. Being part of a series, I believe the readers will get all they want in the next one.

Overall a good to read, one to swallow.

is the biggest danger in the sound, or in the explosive blast?

possibly both, in an age where perception is often more powerful than actual physical threats

Manju was greatly helped by a counsellor after a series of personal tragedies - despite the fact that he turned out to be an unqualified advisor.

She came up with an idea to open The Quack House and offer simply a listening ear for whomever wanted it.

Her husband was to become worried for her safety, despite the ingenuity of her business, and its relative success.

Odd threats seem to manifest . A kidnapping, a holder of an old grudge, a technological threat - all seem to plague Manju - and it appears it is because she offers a listening ear - and sometimes has the temerity to try to assist her clients outside of her four walls.

Can she survive the challenges? Her personal well being, and the well being of her marriage might both fall victim.

An exciting, suspenseful tale that leads through layers of challenging perception and deception to a bloody end.

Again thanks to Rani for providing me with promotional book for a review.
This is the second part in the quack house series where in Manju who opens a quack house where people can come and talk to Manju about whatever they feel like. The quack house has given Manju her motive to work and be a entrepreneur. But, this same quack house has put Manju in a trivial situations and in this book its like a threat to her life. Sunil her husband is in a mind to close down the quack house due to this. Rani had given a humorous touch in the last book but in this it's humorous with a thrill nd suspense. She has kept the climate open-ended. Waiting for the next book in the quack series. Overall it's really a good Goodreads...

Suspense thrillers are most tricky to write. A minor slip can mess up the entire plot. Since readers usually have a presumption while reading thrillers that minor detail will somehow connect to the big reveal in the end, authors have to be careful while writing it. This is where the author excelled. Every moment that you may shrug off as unimportant will turnout to be an important part of the climax.

The beginning of the book is very promising. It takes readers into Manju’s world showing her dilemma, her fear, her passion towards her work and her love for her family. Her perfect yet not so perfect life attract will attract you.

Letha Acoustics, the second book in the Quack House Series, is the story of how Manju's Quack House clients land her in trouble(yet again). This is a slow going novella that picks up pace only towards the second half of its story. The protagonist seemed unnecessarily 'spoiled' but the perseverance of her character only shines towards the end of the book. There are some pages of the book where there's descriptive scenes that have no connection to the actual plot. But, despite all of that, the story manages to be interesting. Unfortunately, the ending seems rushed and abrupt.
