I came into this study abroad travel journey not knowing what I would get into. I remember sitting at the airport, after my father had dropped me off, and I watched the end of the national championship game, Ohio State vs. Oregon. It was cold and snowing outside, the wind rattled off the roof of the airport. It was night for huddling around fires. But, none of that really matter to me. I had no idea what I was going to do next. My mind was on cloud nine, it was the first time that I traveled by myself.
I had a different mentality. I went on this trip trying to get away from a lot of hardship in life. I was looking for freedom. In many ways, I still am.
Not many people in life get to experience this feeling. Many people are physically and mentally enslaved to the day-to-day minutia which eats away at our precious lives. Being able to live a life that is free is the most incredible feeling in the world. Being free is a lot like dancing in the rain, you do not care what happens or who sees you acting a fool
Over the next couple of months, In my travels across Europe, I changed. I absolved in my own freedom and charted the course on the sailboat of my own life. I was the captain of my own ship and I documented it with a journal I had won answering a trivia question at school. I cannot help that I am an absolute geography wunderkind.
My journey was special. In it, I became a man. I had to. I was all alone in the world, but I liked it. I am glad that I documented it. Let this be your travel guide book. I hope my stories inspire you to make your own.
