New Jersey native, Bridgette Brown has the odds stacked against her, being born from two of the most powerful gangsters, Pamela and Yayo. They brought her up on the strong morals of all the street codes. Growing up, she watched her father become a true Street King, but he was nothing if he didn’t let his Queen conquer too. Pamela always had her man back. No matter what, every deal Yayo made Pamela was there to give her input. Except for one fatal deal that she warned him about. The first time Yayo didn’t listen, it cost them both their lives. Pamela and Yayo had many enemies, the Jamaicans, in particular, wiping everybody out that gets on their path. Bridgette was left at a young age to grow up in the cold world without her parents. The only surviving family she had was her cousin Lena, who taught her all the wrongs things about dealing with men. Lena was a bad influence, making Bridgette grow up before her time, but thankfully, she placed the right people in her life, longtime friends Karlie and Tommie. Once Bridgette linked up with them, there was no turning back. The three of them acquired that hunger for money; they took whatever they could get no matter who it belonged to. But stealing from the wrong one costs them their freedom of working alone and forced them to join up with the same Jamaican clan who killed her parents.
This book was ok in the beginning. It just some things that bothered me. She was offer a place but left her friends hanging. It felt incomplete and rushed at the end.
Talk about violating, never have I known or heard of a true les turning out her best friend!! From a horrible childhood memory to getting love from Silas I truly believe the jealousy destroyed the loyalty. Karlie committed the ultimate betrayal and Silas only confirmed it by sleeping with her. Tommie wanted her from the beginning and never liked him. This story went from a possible 4 star read to 3 all because throwing in an epilogue on an incomplete chapter was crazy. This had a great story line but the way they took him out and fled without any retaliation from the Jamaican drug lords is unheard of. I really wished the author had finished this instead of throwing her and Tommie together. Just feels like she still lost in the end. Alias came of a demanding over bearing and sexy but he loved her and she didn't have to steal, he took care of her now she's pregnant broke and depending on her lazy les friend. Really Tommie!!
This was a decent read, but I feel like the title was a little misleading. Also, if one of these girls said, "pause" one more damn time, I was going to pull my hair out. It also could have used some additional editing as well. I will say that I wasn't sure which way this story would go from beginning to end. One minute you think it's all good, the next minute it's mayhem. I didn't particularly care for the ending either, but over all, it was a decent read.
Silas is a mess! The craziest thing is everything about Jamaican men that was said in the book is true! 😂😂 I hated to read Karhlie getting killed but I’m happy Tommie & Bridgett got away!
I’m just super fucking shock on how it ended i was so not expecting that I’m not happy about it but I’m not mad at it either but it was a great read from beginning to end
This was a great read. Although the ending was not what I thought it turned out the best for what their families been through. Love to see what happens to her and the baby.
Silas momma from the beginning was not the one to play with. She had no remorse on killing Bridgette’s parents. That woman said “I did what I did.” But Silas was a mommas boy he had no backbone. But the girls did what they had to do to survive. Great read
