This is the perfect coffee table book to help any baseball fan get through the doldrums of winter.

There were some really nice tributes to some of the legends of the game. Without it, we would forget who these guys were. Take for instance Cy Young. Baseball gives the Cy Young award every year to the best pitcher but who was he? He only won 500+ games. My arm became sore just thinking about it.

The pictures were phenomenal, and I really enjoyed it all. They wrote little vignettes to the legends of the game, classic World Series matchups, and ball parks. The stories lacked real depth, and this was extremely light reading, but they were still fun. They even ran a story about nick names. How did they miss Catfish Hunter? I also wish they would have used WAR to compare the impact of the players from decade to decade.

If there is a book like this dedicated to the Detroit Tigers, please someone recommend it to me. It is a classic coffee table book.

There is no way I’m going to believe that Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig were really struck out by a woman. This had to be a stunt.

Coincidentally, I opened this book to page 37, where I read the following, “Brothers Felipe, Matty, and Jesus Alou played together in the New York Giants outfield in the 1960s but were never in the same starting lineup.” This was a surprise, as the New York Giants became the San Francisco Giants in the late 1950s.
Despite such an obvious gaffe, this book is a joy to read. Most of the major personalities of baseball and major events since it became the major leagues are featured, albeit all briefly. There are images associated with the textual captions. There is no temporal order to the coverage.
While not deep due to the breadth of coverage, this book is a fan jewel, one that can be opened anywhere and provide quick and easy entertainment.

A nice, short, full of historic pictures summary of Major League Baseball. I was hoping for some new facts about baseball’s history, but you won’t find them here. Probably best for someone just getting into the sport than for a long time fan. Still, nicely assembled….

Full of pictures, facts, records and other baseball trivia. But no table of contents or index so it's a little hard to find things

Did not finish this. I stopped at around page 200 when something was attempting to be passed off as a legitimate stat or factoid. This was "strongest slugger". This is not quantifiable in any way imaginable and reeked of something akin to page filler.
