When Idris left the streets, his wife, Wisdom, was ecstatic. She didn’t know that Idris was going to trade his late-night hustling for late-night clubbing. There is no question that he makes good money being a promoter, but Wisdom feels alone in her marriage. As the mother of two young children and a business owner, Wisdom is feeling more and more overwhelmed. All of the talks that she has with Idris about the matter seem to be going in one ear and out the other. Feeling like she can show him better than she can tell him, Wisdom makes an effort to get Idris’s attention, and the reaction that he gives is one that she never expected. Wisdom is devastated and on the brink of ending her marriage until one night changes how she views her marriage.
Being that his mother died when he was young, Idris doesn’t care for holidays. Anger from his childhood and traumatic events from his past have caused Idris to do some things that he isn’t exactly proud of. A few weeks before Christmas, Idris has an experience that will change his outlook on life forever, but will he survive the night? Idris isn’t sure what’s happening when he’s visited by three ghosts of Christmas. One from the past, the present, and the future. They all urge Idris to value a second chance at life, if he is given one.
Egypt and Iman are expecting a child, and if it’s one thing that Iman has learned, it’s that whenever he gets a woman pregnant, she loses her mind. Pregnancy hormones have Egypt all out of character, and Iman isn’t sure just how much more he can take. He’s on the verge of snapping until his child is fighting to survive. It’s then that Iman learns that trivial things shouldn’t be given energy. Why waste time bickering and arguing when none of us truly know when we will take our last breath? Iman learns this lesson the hard way, and he can only hope that God has mercy on his family and that his one wish for Christmas comes to fruition.
I really enjoyed this book... It was a nice holiday story... The characters are from the "Idris and Wisdom" series... But don't worry even if you did not read the series you could still follow along with this story with the way that it was written... In areas that was referenced to a time before in one of the other books from the sreies... We were provided with that flash back... It was all very well explained... That definitely helped a lot... So you will not be lost at all... I love how things all played out with the characters... Idris defiinatly had a wake up call that make him look at life and his family differently... He now had a better appreciation for his wife Wisdom... He is lucky that all this happened when it did because he was on his way to losing her... Of course before his wake up call... I was so mad at him...I was yelling at him through the book because of how he was treating Wisdom... I was like after all she went through with him and gave him 2 kids plus he knows that he would never find another woman like her.. Yet because he would not listen to her when she asked for some help and he got in his feelings he wants to allow another woman in... Like really... he was doing all this because his wife asked for a little thing like some help... Then one little slip up and this happened... And his life and look on things changed... Idris was also being a little unreasonable with Egypt... I didnt like how he was handling her... It made it worse because she was pregnant so she was even more emotional... Then for this scare to happen... I could not believe him... Even when the doctors explained that things were not Egypt's fault... He still was mad and continued to blame her... He is lucky she didn't throw in the towel on him... Because he would have lost the best woman for him... With Ivan and Lyrica I know she was scared for him to leave to go back to North Carolina... She just needed to understand that he needed to be there for his family... Yes this may have cause a hiccup in their future... But at least they will have a future... I love how all the brother finally got a better understanding of life and the great women that they have in their life... Really nice way to wrap this up with a nice Christmas Story...
I normally don’t care to much for holiday novels but this one caught my eye and changed my mind. This book flows so well from the beginning to the end and I loved it... A MUST READ!!! Idris is something else but you can tell deep down that he’s a good man with a troubled past instead of him learning from the past he let it weighs him down and mess up his life. When he got shot I just knew he was going to die but he didn’t I loved how the 3 ghost came to visit him and I loved that one of them was his mother it gave him the closure that he needed. Wisdom is super women through and through she is an amazing wife and mother and all she wants is her husband to help her more. When Idris choked her she left him without a 2nd thought but when she heard he was shot she came running. Iman and Egypt seem like they can have a really great relationship if she would just chill out a little she goes crazy every chance she gets and I low key blame her for going into labor early. I’m glad she finally calmed down and got things on the right path with her husband. Ivan and Lyrica seem like they’ve been through their fair share of drama they both got shot by the same person but that seem to bring them closer. I’m glad they ended up getting engaged this book was really good!
I enjoyed this novella and the growth that came about once the ghosts of Christmas came through. Idris had been doing his own thing for too long and needed a reminder of how his actions affected Wisdom. Wisdom dealt with a lot and it showed just how strong of a person she was. Egypt was going about things the wrong way and had to understand Iman's feelings with everything. I'm glad Genesis was alright and they were able to get on the same page. Ivan got off lucky and finally owned up to his actions. Lyrica needed the closure and the opportunity for Sa'id to apologize. Iman, Idris and Ivan all had lessons to learn and their mother stepped in at the right moment to reassure them that things would be fine.
At first I was going to skip this one because the description doesn’t do it justice. I’m glad I read it. It was perfectly written and a nice update to some characters I grew fond of. Wisdom is one of my favorite book ladies. I hate to see that Idris is putting her through it. I watched Egypt and Iman journey to find each other so it’s always good for to actually see a couple living together and witnessing their growth. Ivan is still young and on the run. Lyrica hasn’t matured him much. The visit by the ghost of their mom was touching and right in time. Watching each couple fix what was wrong and change for the better was a Christmas miracle! Great read!
It really took the ghost of Christmas past, present & future to get Idris to see the light, Wisdom was very patient with him. With Iman and Egypt the universe always have a strange way of teaching life lessons. Ivan I was trying to see how long he thought his plan was going to work, plus it looks like Lyrica might finally get her happy ending....
Idris, Iman and Ivan are living their best lives, or trying too. Wisdom is about to snap, Egypt is pregnant and hormonal and Lyrica is trying to hold on to Ivan for as long as she can. Each brother has an encounter with someone they've been missing for a long time and it helps them to realize the true meaning of Christmas. I liked the lessons that were taught in this one.
I always like a update book in characters that you like. I liked the Scrooge feel that this book had to it. Idris was a whole fool out here. And I'm glad he seen what he had in Wisdom. I'm was nice catching up with the brothers and their ladies. And believing in Christmas miracles made me smile. Good book it really touches you.
I think I had a couple of epiphanies reading this book. Natisha did an absolutely beautiful job with this one. It was definitely emotional but it gives you something to think about and reflect on. It amazes me how this was all put together and while reading I could visualize everything that was happening. More than 5 star worthy.
I really enjoyed reading about Idris, Iman and Ivan. Even though they were characters from the Idris and Wisdom series, you didn’t have to read the series to keep up in this story. I liked how the mother came to talk to each of her sons when they needed her the most and that visit caused some positive changes in each of their lives. Great Christmas novella.
What a beautiful Christmas read! At first I was a bit skeptical about the ghost thing...but it came it real nice! This book was also filled with a lot of information...medically speaking, that was on point. So it showed that the author did her research well. Great job! Great read! Loved it!
I liked how this author had their mother come to them in their darkest hour & gave them words of encouragement to lift them up. Idrus put Wisdom though so much but in the end he realized the error of his ways & became a better husband and father. All of the brothers got a Christmas miracle from their mother
I really enjoyed this novella about one of my favorite couples Idris and Wisdom. This is definitely something you would want to read and won’t be disappointed. It was heart felt. Natisha you have done it again...
One thing I can say is you stay on your grind and I admire your hustle. I'm so glad that you wrote this so that we can keep up with the couples. It was a couple of bumps and bruises but they made it.
I loved this from start to finish! I’m glad their Mom came to them to help them realize that life family Is Important! I would love a new year book to follow up on the baby and Ivan
It was good reading about the crew again. Seeing everyone go through something that made them realize life was too short to take for granted was beautiful! Job well done! Can't wait to see what's in store for us next!
I love that you bring them back for a Christmas update for one. I’m glad that Idris learned his lesson and is ready to put in the work. Wisdom was over there putting that work in. Ivan has a second chance and hopefully he do turn himself in this time
It was good to hear from the crew again. Sometimes you just need a reality check to see how things could be have been and will be in order to realize you need to make a change
