This is a heart-warming book of prayers, collected from grandmothers around the world. They have been prayed by women with different styles of praying, women who come from different cultures and from different religious denominations, but who all have one thing in common – they all love their grandchildren. It is neither a polemic nor a ‘how-to’ book. It follows in a scriptural tradition, having a similar approach to the ‘prayer book’ of the Bible – the Psalms. In the Psalms King David turned Godward in every circumstance, and so we find such diverse topics in these prayers praise and questioning, thanksgiving and despair, the world of nature, national issues, personal circumstances and much else. In addition the reader will have the opportunity of getting to know the praying grannies, and hopefully of being encouraged by their prayers to hold fast to what they do so well – praying for their grandchildren. “What a privilege to be allowed a peep into the hearts of so many praying grandmothers! This is writing that comes straight from the heart and goes straight to the heart of our loving heavenly Father!” Editor’s comment About the author Heather Johnston was born in Northern Ireland.
