Being a first time parent is something else

I absolutely loved being a first time parent of my very own little human being. I honestly think that I was more prepared since I had been a parent in training for years with my younger siblings. I enjoyed it so much. I love how this book is written with the perspective of both parents with very different views. I was a single mom of my amazing son and was so happy that he was a happy baby who slept through the night from day one. Trust me though I never had any desire to being a parent so when I met my husband I prayed that he didn't want any of his own. Of course he did and no birth control was strong enough to stop me from getting pregnant. Boy, I can't wait until he writes a book about how much having his daughter will change everything in such a dramatic way. Here's hoping that the harmony you had in being a parent of one little blessing to a world of two. My oldest son was almost three years old before my second son was born and to say it was a shock would be minimizing the experience. I had a happy toddler, out of diapers for over a year and extremely independent and did I say happy?? Enter child number two who wasn't happy in the pregnancy and once he was born never stopped crying! The joys of multiple children!! Cheers

What a wonderful, terrifying and hilarious book! This non-fiction (perhaps a bit of exaggeration, at times) tale proves that Iain Rob Wright can and does accomplish the creation of great reading material, whatever the genre or subject matter. I laughed out loud, shed a few tears and remembered many of the same terrible and terrific moments from my own children. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

So true!!

This book was both hilarious and heart-warming ... and so true, according to my memories when i first had a child. Raising my son was also filled with fears that I wasn't doing something right and joy of living everything experienced with him. Then his sister arrived 2-2/2 years later I felt more calm and was more sure of what I did. This book happily took me down memory lane, and I enjoyed every word I read. Obviously, there is a lot more to Mr. Wright than horror!

WOW I really enjoyed reading Diary of a Flummoxed Father: The early years of parenthood by Iain Rob Wright.

I loved the way Iain depicts becoming a Father for the first time and the hilarious and painful episodes that he and his wife Sally have to endure. The photographs were beautiful too especially of their first born son Jack he is so adorable.

The way Iain describes his son Jack's head when he is being born likened to an alien because it was cone shaped made me smile also baby Jack suffers from reflux and thank be to God for Ed Sheeran song 'Thinking out loud.' which pacified Jack when he was crying and got him to sleep. Loved the way they juggled their way through getting back to work and bonding with baby Jack.

The terrifying moment when Iain discovers the park which is full of dirt grime and danger not looking good for his anxiety levels.

Sally talks us through her side of how she is having to cope with an arduous labour and how they were living like zombies just like in Iain's horror books. Grandma Jude who held down a job as a Vicar and enjoyed looking after Jack to help both Iain and Sally to get back to the sanity of a working life as well as being first time parents too.

Two years later the pitter patter of a baby girl is about to descend on the Wright household.

awww

As a fan of this author I was surprised to see a non horror book but was intrigued to read it. Glad I did as it’s a bare all look into his and his wife’s life in early parenthood.
It’s points out the good the bad and the ugly of parenthood and is an honest heartwarming read.
If your a parent you will relate to it and if your not it’s still very much worth a read

I don't have any kids or even any younger siblings, so I can't relate. Regardless, I found this to be a hilarious recounting of parenthood, even though I'm sure there was quite a bit of exaggeration (blood sacrifices). ;-)

diary of a flummoxed father

A pretty accurate description of pregnancy and the early years of having a baby including stuff they don’t tell you about in the childcare books and I liked that it was told from both parents perspective and it was pretty funny at times

Entertaining as heck!

I enjoyed reading Iain & Sally’s take on parenthood. It was good to read a non-horror (except for the extreme poop) by Iain and realize he is a very talented guy in more genres than one!

A sweet and humorous accounting of the author's life rather birth of his first child. As a nice added bonus his wife chimes in as well.
