When Irish politician Michael Healy-Rae speaks about the biggest regret of his life – he didn’t have time to talk when somebody needed him most – he vowed never to stop talking and listening, and really hearing what people were trying to say. And so his first book – neither a manifesto nor a memoir – celebrates the power of talk to forge real human connection and sustain us.
Brilliant stories of Rural Ireland from a Kerryman. Being from the country myself it is nice to see what rural Ireland was like and what the people of rural Ireland were like from back in the 50s to present day.
Loved every interesting story, every little titbit of information included in this book,of times gone by,forgotten by some, remembered lovingly,by others.
An enjoyable book, written from the heart of one of Ireland’s truly unique politicians. There is a nice variety of stories full of wild characters and community spirit. Healy-Rae surprisingly comes across as being very well read and philosophical. All in all, a good read, perhaps best enjoyed in short bursts over a long period of time.
