Bray is a normal town, nestled in the Dry Mountains which protected it from the Outlands. Tam Rhymer's mid-lander cousins have brought along a shining boy on their annual visit, but the boy disappears. Tam knows he must find the boy, no matter how far the task moves him from safety.
Helen Cresswell (1934–2005) was an English television scriptwriter and author of more than 100 children's books, best known for comedy and supernatural fiction. Her most popular book series, Lizzie Dripping and The Bagthorpe Saga, were also the basis for television series.
Great idea for a story with lots of potential but a rushed, unsatisfactory and ultimately wasted ending left me wishing the author had not frittered the build up away.
