Ivee is an orphan whose aunt took her away from her hometown of Shelley, Idaho. Many years later, at age nineteen, Ivee has returned to Shelley to teach school, but she barely remembers the place and doesn’t think she fits in.
Then she meets Lance, a handsome boy who disappears for weeks at a time. When Ivee decides to follow the trail of peas he leaves for her, she passes through a magic door into a place called Fenmore Falls. In this enchanted kingdom, Lance is a prince . . . and betrothed to a faraway princess.
Ivee tries to deny her feelings for Lance, but she simply can’t forget him. When fate leads her to the castle, she learns there are people who will do anything to keep her away from the prince. Ivee can give up and return home to Idaho, or fight for a chance at true love.
An orphan girl from Idaho couldn’t marry a prince . . . or could she?
The last book in the series. In theory, all the pieces should fit together at last.
I thought it was very interesting how the series is set up so that each sequel is really closer to a prequel...So reading the books from the last to the first would almost make more sense. But it was interesting reading them as intended, and getting more pieces as we went along. If they had been set up in the conventional, chronological manner, with this book being the first one and Book 1 being the last, I think it wouldn't have been nearly as interesting.
This one had a little too much "love at first sight" for me, but the romance was still cute and believable for the most part. It was a fun read, but doesn't stand out from the rest.
Fun, short story of love and adventure and happily ever after. Ivee and Lance quickly share love at first sight and have a fun adventure together, filled with plenty of heartache and loss, but joy in the end. This is book 5 in the series, but chronologically comes first, so while there seems to be some plot holes and some story arcs left hanging, if the other books are read in order after this one, then everything comes together nicely.
I love the book covers of this series! I also love the plot ideas - I've long been a plot of fairy-tale adaptations & mixing/mashing together different fairy tales. The writing style & conversations style is quite basic, more teen/tween level, but the plot kept me reading to find out what would happen.
Read in a day, yet again. These books are a pretty easy read (each book has taken me just under 3 hours to finish) but they are so cute, and so worth it! I love these books so much! I wish there were more in this series!
I always enjoy reading reimagined fairy tales. 'The Princess and the Pesky Pea' is another cute, chessey and enjoyable reimagined fairy tale. Plus like the other books in the 'Princess Chronicles' series, this book has a lovely cover.👸💚🤴
This book was exceptional! I loved watching how all the books came together and how each book was completely different. I'm a bit sad for the end of the series, but I'm happy to see it all come together.
