Canadian born, Manly Palmer Hall is the author of over 150 published works, the best known of which are Initiates of the Flame, The Story of Healing, The Divine Art,Aliens Magick and Sorcery The Secret Teachings of All Ages, and An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy.
He was also the author of a masonic curiosity, The Lost Keys of Freemasonry in 1923, more than thirty years before he joined a lodge. The preface of later editions states "At the time I wrote this slender volume, I had just passed my twenty-first birthday, and my only contact with Freemasonry was through a few books commonly available to the public." Later, in 1944, he wrote The Secret Destiny of America which popularized the myth of a masonic purpose for the founding of the USA. In 1950 he weighed in again on the meaning of Freemasonry with his booklet: Masonic Orders of Fraternity.

Basically an audiobook style recording of the section on Thoth Hermes Tristmegistus from The Secret Teachings Of All Ages. Not a bad recording though!

Short and sweet. The detailed Vision of Hermes makes this worth the read. Aside from the Vision, this 'book' has the grammar and thoroughness of an elementary school essay. That may just be because of the limited writings available, though. Either way, the novel content and low price makes this a win.

This is the sort of ‘mysterious’ garbage that dorks and outcasts get into as a kind of elitist enlightenment fantasy.

‘The jocks picked on me in high school but I’ll show them, I know the secret ancient magic!’

Rubbish.

If you’re genuinely interested in Hellenistic rituals and ideas just read the Corpus Hermeticum.

Serious Book of Mormon vibes. It sounds like he’s trying to make it sound ancient and legitimate, but it had a post-enlightenment Protestant feel.

It’s really short, so if it’s something you’re into you might as well check it out.

He usually provides a better roadmap. Another book that washed over me rather than poured into me.

What do we say about Hermes Trismegistus? I guess we haven't found the man's writings yet; they are promised. From the depths of one's soul, they shall be revealed! The ancient scripts may have to wait until they unfold with time. In a space-time continuum such as our world, we find that the tabula rasa, or clean slate, is riddled by the sun. The gleaming rays of light burning through our sensations and desires until we accumulate the wealth of reason. Is this how we enter the true mind? I suggest we read this book twice! Analyze and observe. Absorb what is transcendent when like meets like. In other words, we consider that the spirit is far more offensive to the soul, yet the flesh kills it. I would go through the poison and achieve alchemy by following the Spirit rather than confroming to flesh. What do you guys say? Peace up!
