This is a good example of an editorial decision that does not understand its market. Most people looking for picture books are looking for elementary age books, but the information in this book would lend itself more to a 6-12 grade age group. The illustrations are very creative but difficult to understand without the text and the background colors contrast with the generally cheerful colors of this painter’s works. (Someone else said depressing.) I don’t think this is very visually attractive to any age though the biography is very good and thorough.
