Seventy-seven Dakokatan Outposters are stranded on a hostile planet, and Warlord Judan Ringa is desperate to reach them before more die. He appeals to Technikon Laboratories Consortium for aid, seeking the one scientist who can save his people. But his first meeting with Dr. Myrina deCarte stuns him.

She's human. Yet she's his genetically coded mate.

Orphaned at an early age, Myrina knows nothing about her past. All she has now are her job and her friends at TLC. That is, until she meets a tall, green-skinned man who literally electrifies her from head to toe—and who insists they have a future together. After years of yearning to be wanted, she's about to discover that it isn't enough. She believes in love, a word that isn't part of the Dakokatan lexicon.

Determined to overcome their cultural barriers, Judan sets out to teach Myrina the customs and rituals between Dakokatan mates, both inside the bedroom and out. And along the way, she teaches him what it means to be human.

Wow, I have no F'n clue what book the blurb is describing, but it most certainly isn't this one!!!
Thank goodness I ended up liking this book since it wasn't available as an ebook so I had to order it from the UK in 'old school format' for my birthday. (funny fact is at the end of the novel, there's two pages about why Ellora Cave Publishing thinks electronic books are so great!?)

in THIS book.... the MCs are Judan a Dakokatan and Myrina an orphan from Earth. She is a scientist who specializes in alien ecosystems and their compatibility to colonization. This part of the book was pretty interesting and definitely true sci-fi. The premise was that alien worlds often are inhospitable to alien organisms and I could tell the author had done her research and/or knew something about the science. Jordan is a leader for his people and goes to the Confederacy to help save 77 of his people stranded and dying on a planet they had deemed safe to colonize. And so he meets Myrina and instantly know she is his destined mate. For those who hate 'insta mates', it isn't that simple. Myrina has grown up in the Confederation/Earth ideals of Wooing/Love/Wedding. She is also an orphan, and a scientist, and skeptical of fated-mates. Judan's society is new to the Confederacy and little known. Judan is no dummy though and knowing this about his mate/Myrina he decides to follow her customs and 'woo' her. Of course it isn't that simple and there are other cultural bumps along the way. Then there is the mystery of what is killing the Dakokatan colonists...
I totally enjoyed this book and am bummed that most of her stuff (although she doesn't seem to have written that much) isn't available for ebooks!

Good read - a futuristic romance with an action plot and good characters.

The heroine is an environmental geneticist. The hero needs her to help save his people trapped on a strange planet which has suddenly become both incompatible and fatal to leave. The efforts required to save the people trapped on the planet added a nice sense of urgency to the plot.

The author did a good job with the h/h's confusion about each other's cultures, something that is frequently neglected in futuristics. [Think about the range of 'appropriate' behaviors and courting customs here on Earth - and we're all the same species!:]

Her world building was unique, her hero was more than adequately hunky with amazing hair, and the plot was interesting with a satisfying resolution. Robie Madison has gone onto my wish list...

This book is way too slow. By the time i finished it i was more happy that i made it till the end lol, rather than have that taste of enjoyment when you read a good book.
To me this was more 2.5 stars rating.

Loved it

I had read this book when it first came and the second time around is no different. I loved how Myrina and Judan had adjust to their differences between them, lot of being different cultures. I would have liked to read that Myrina had met Zane.
