I was impressed at how comprehensive this book is, without feeling too long or dull for this age group. Because it was written in 1989, it is factual and doesn’t veer into woke topics. I loved how it includes many excerpts from actual journals and letters from real people who lived in Iowa years ago. The photos and maps included are another huge plus. This is a valuable resource that should be part of an elementary education for all Iowa students.

I think this history book for school aged persons is very good. I like the organization. And the quote on page 235.
