Rate this book
What is going on when the workplace feels like a dysfunctional family or individuals behave like frustrated or anxious children? Using theory and concepts based in family systems, Brian DesRoches illuminates and reveals the invisible emotional process inherent in all organizations. When people form groups, such as the family or the workplace, they emotionally influence each other and develop patterns of communication and behavior to deal with stress. The patterns learned in your original group, your family, can be reactivated in your workplace. Blame, avoidance, gossip, defensiveness and triangles amplify the tension, frustration and anxiety. In YOUR BOSS IS NOT YOUR MOTHER, Brian DesRoches shows you not only how to effectively deal with workplace dysfunction, he also presents and illustrates the essential communication skills to create a sense of autonomy and respect in the workplace. You can minimize the stress inherent in the workplace and create success for yourself by understanding and navigating the invisible emotional process embedded in all human organizations.

Brian DesRoches is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and consultant and coach to professional businesses. He holds master degrees in Hospital Administration, Business Administration and Counseling, and Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling and Psychology.
