This story had all of the elements to be a really unique and suspenseful story. I liked both of the main characters and the storyline was different from most of the stories I read. But, for me, there were just too many things that happened that really took me out of the story.

I know that if the bad guy is caught immediately, the story is over, but when the bad guy makes the good guy look incompetent, it’s hard for me to be really invested in that character. I also felt that when Adam starts thinking about making a drastic change in his life, so soon into the story, it was just too unrealistic for me. These elements of the story just did not work for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Pretty good story but had some weak parts.

Okay, I liked the book. Rating:3.5stars rounded to 4.
Adam is a special agent with ICE. But--there are times when I feel like he's a rookie. New at the job. The first scene with the bad guy-he had the guy subdued twice and he still got away. Driving around in a big black Tahoe--Why didn't they get a different vehicle? Stuff like that weakened the book. I liked the Bishop. Liked the "good guys" in the story. It just needed tightening up.

Katie Schwartz is a widow with two young twin girls, her brother has been a great help to her since her husband's death, but when he suddenly goes missing she finds herself in the middle of a federal investigation working with Agent Adam Troyer.

Adam Troyer's grandparents were Amish, but he grew up in a non-religious home, he admires Katie's strong faith and her strength. He wants to do all he can to protect Katie and bring back her brother safe. As they work together, they find their hearts challenged by their growing friendship and questions of faith.

Adam has seen a lot of things and grew up with his father who resented his own Amish upbringing. He is good at his job, he is dedicated to keeping Katie safe, he is respectful and curious about her faith.

Katie has lived a relatively sheltered life, she hasn't travelled much outside of her community, and is willing to everything she can to help her brother and protect her daughters. She has a strong faith, and shares what she believes with Adam.

Engaging suspense, with strong heroes and filled with faith. Good dialogue between Adam and Katie build their relationship. I enjoyed this exciting and compelling read, good plot, and high stakes. I loved how Katie and Adam make sacrifices for their loved ones, and the action packed ending.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thank you in advance to the author, Meghan Carver, and JustRead Publicity Tours for providing a complimentary review. A positive review was not required. All words and thoughts are my own.

Another blind-date with an Amish book! Even better – a suspense filled Amish book? Wow! I’m definitely settling in for this one.

I was introduced to this author by way of another JustRead tour – a cozy mystery. While that was entertaining and cute, this book is definitely where the author’s talent shines.

This was actually the “second” book in what I hope is a continuing series. The first one is “Amish Country Amnesia” (2018). And, despite this book being the second one, I had no idea. It truly stands alone on its own without the first one. Though, I will be sure to get the first one.

As someone who had read several genres in just the past year – and some “continuing” series – it is rare for a writer to be able to have a standalone stand on its own without needing the first book.

Right off it begins with the cover. Some book covers are plain and ordinary. And, while one shouldn’t judge a book by the cover – how does the book grab the reader’s attention in the first place?

This cover of a creepy old building with a worried Amish woman sets the tone of the novel and literally asks “what is wrong, what is going on”. From there, it sets off in a fast-pace speed with an overwhelming urgency, with a bicycle no less. From there, the action doesn’t stop – it literally does not stop. It has a heart-stopping, pulse-pounding rhythm that flows naturally.

Normally, when reviewing books I try to take notes. There are some books that make that task easy – stop after each chapter and assess it; and others where I can’t stop long enough to take notes. This falls into the second category. While the chapters act as “stop” points – the plot and pacing are too addictive to just “stop”, even at the stop points. The story literally begins before the beginning.

The bad guy has a great set-up here – hide in “plain” sight. A pun if you will. Instead of hiding in public, he hides within the “plain” community. There was one point I was beginning to wonder if the bad guy didn’t have a finger in someone’s law enforcement pie since the guy kept getting away.

I could see that Adam was conflicted before he saw Katie. This was due to his own family’s past. I would’ve liked to have seen reconciliation with one family member at the end; however that might be where the author picks up or goes next. But, as soon as he met Katie, the conflict deepened. And, I do believe that hindered him in some aspects. But, it also aided him in others. For that I deeply enjoyed his character, and I adored Katie’s simplicity. I also adored the fact that while she had lost her husband, she was entertaining some feelings for Adam.

I think his faith was there, but buried with doubt and resentment. So, when he saw how Katie handled her life’s storms, he was able to tap into that. While some might see the beginning of his conversion as too quick – it isn’t as if he didn’t have ties to the community before. He did mention his grandparents.

Carver does a fantastic job with this story in keeping true to both aspects – a law enforcement investigation and the Amish “plain” life.

While the “faith” element was on a stronger side – more like Gott (God) was mentioned quite frequently, that was to be expected from someone of the Amish faith. There was no real preaching or a preachy tone throughout the novel.

I am DEFINITELY interested in the author’s Love Inspired Suspense stories and will probably (albeit very slowly) add them to my TBR list.

Amish Covert Operation is a Love Inspired Suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat. I thought the story was well-written and it had a peppy pace. I found the main characters of Katie Schwartz and Adam Troyer to be appealing. Each of them has a history along with flaws (makes them relatable). Katie is a widow with twin daughters. Her brother, Timothy is the last of her family and she is used to seeing him daily as he tends to her animals. Since Easter, though, he has not been around, nor has he been attending church. Katie wants to get answers from him and heads to his farm. Katie sees something she should not and finds herself on the run with Special Agent Adam Troyer protecting her. Adam had a rotten childhood with an alcoholic father, and he had his own battle with bottle. Adam feels is his unworthy of God and someone as lovely as Katie. Katie is a woman of faith and knows that God is watching out for her. She prays for guidance and assistance. I liked the dialogue between Adam and Katie as they got to know each other. The story was enhanced by Adam’s struggle with faith and finding his way back to God. The story was full of action as Katie and Adam tried to stay one step of ahead of the criminals. I liked the inclusion of coded message (I have a thing for ciphers). There is a great action packed ending that will have you quickly turning the pages to find out what happens next. I enjoyed the epilogue that wrapped up Amish Covert Operation. Amish Covert Operation has suspense, electric sparks, gunshots, and perilous situations.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Being a widow with two daughters, Katie Schwartz is depending on her brother to help her. But when he didnt show up for several monthts, she was worried and went looking for him, but she found more than she was expecting. After being shot at, ICE agent Adam Troyer came to her rescue and pulled her to safety. Why an ICE agent in her neighborhood? Join the fun to find out in this Love Inspired suspense that will have you on the edge of your seats.

I enjoy Amish books and once in a while an Amish suspense comes along that makes the genre more interesting. I really enjoyed Amish Convert Operation, the suspense has the story moving at a fast pace and I didnt want to stop reading until I finished it. Even though there are a lot of differences between Katie and Adam, I really liked both characters. Katie was a strong women and dies her best taking care of her home and children after her husband's death. And she has a strong faith in God, and it shows in her life. Adam's grandparents were Amish, but his home life with his parents was anything but Amish.

As the two tried to solve a code given to them by Katie's brother, and as they spent more time together, the attraction grew. The story is action packed and fast paced but the romance, not so fast, but it's there and its nice. And the main thing I enjoyed about this book is the way the author weaved the Lord and faith into the story and into Katie's life, making it clear that we can do nothing without the Lord. Our strength comes from Him.

If you enjoy Amish fiction, and especially of you like suspense, you will love this book. I encourage you to pick up a copy and read it for yourself! My Thoughts:
Amazing book! Wow. Just wow. I got the book, downloaded the book, read the book all within a matter of hours. Did not want to put it down. Very well written. It definitely gripped me in and wouldn't let go. I had to know how it would end!

I predicted some parts but I'm still questioning others. Like the bad guys. Who were they? Why did they target Katie's brother? What information did Adam have about them and the crime ring before he came to Katie's Amish community? I think we need a prequel now.

About the Book
General information about the book. Katie Fischer is widowed with twin daughters. Her husband died in a sawmill accident and her brother has been helping her as much as he can. Until he's not. Suddenly he's no longer helping her out as much, not stopping in to chat, and not attending church. She knows something is terribly wrong and is determined to find out what.

But then all of a sudden she's been shot and a strange man is trying to get her to safety. What is happening? Will she come out alive? What about her brother? Is he really involved in criminal activity? And can she trust Adam Troyer with her life let alone her heart?

Loved it. The twin girls are not talked about enough but their names are so cute and I'm a sucker for twins. I've always wanted to have a set as I grew up with older twin brothers.

I give the book a highly recommend. It read super quickly and definitely kept me interested. The characters were appealing and made me feel like I was part of their circle. As I mentioned I would like more information about the criminal activity but that's just because I love a good mystery book and want all the juicy details.

Definitely a good new author to follow and see what else she has available.

There are certain elements that ensure enjoyment of suspense novels: a tight plot, eminent and believable peril, and main characters you can root for. When it is an Amish suspense novel, there are additional factors in play that increase the size and number of boxes the story must tick.

A swiftly paced plot with a few twists? Unrelenting peril from a somewhat ambiguous source? Danger quickly leads to Adam Troyer protecting Katie Schwartz, as her innocent search for her brother ends in gunfire. While there are respites from violence, they are continually in peril as the story moves forward.

Main characters the reader can root for that are somewhat surprising? Katie is a young Amish widow with twins. Adam is an ICE agent, and while his last name hints at his heritage, he has had little exposure to the Amish way of life.

Along with maintaining the tension of the suspense plot line, the author manages to address the faith of the characters and how choices to leave or join the Amish faith might be made in a relatively brief amount of space. A great deal of this story finds Katie hampered by injuries, but this somehow adds to the sweetness of Adam's care for her.

While the publisher's website does not list this as a series, this is Meghan Carver's fourth Love Inspired Suspense novel and characters from her previous title make appearances with just enough detail to leave the reader curious to read it while not feeling that they are missing information necessary to reading this newer story.

If you enjoy Amish Suspense and prefer the length of a Love Inspired title, then Meghan Carver is an author to watch for if Amish Covert Operation is anything to go by. And I suspect it is. 3.5 stars.

*I received a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. A huge thanks to the publisher, author, and Just Read Tours!*

This was such a fun and quick read! Amish Covert Operation hooks you from the very first chapter and leaves you guessing until the very end. Katie and Adam made such compelling lead characters, and I really loved watching their relationship grow.

I don’t read very many Amish books, but I really enjoyed this one. The pacing in this story was just right. Likewise, I enjoyed the writing style. It’s one of those books that you can read quickly, but it isn’t too basic and cliché like some “romance” novels. I also appreciated that much of the plot wasn’t even related to Katie and Adams’s relationship and actually focused more on the mystery.

Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable read. I read through this book very quickly. I think anyone who enjoys Amish fiction and is looking for a fun and suspenseful read will enjoy this book!

This mystery was a fun spin on the normal Amish fiction that I have read, since it is more than just a story that is set in Amish territory about the Amish or even a mystery in an Amish setting, since it has characters who get involved in something sinister, causing an agent to have to go undercover as an Amish man to bring justice. It brings up some fun questions, especially with the ending (which I won't spoil!). This is an enjoyable mystery to pick up!

When Katie Schwartz goes searching for her missing brother, she runs straight into trouble. Katie fears for her life and her family's lives as she tries to find answers about her brother's disappearance. As a member of an Amish community, Katie is familiar with peaceful living, but this situation is anything but peaceful. Katie finds solace in federal agent, Adam Troyer, as he tries to keep her safe and help her find her brother. What Katie doesn't expect is that she will develop feelings for Adam. Will they be able to compromise their different lifestyles for love? And just what kind of trouble has Katie's brother gotten himself into?

This book is a quick, enjoyable read. While the plot was not entirely unique, the characters made the story come to life. The action scenes were exciting and page turning. I felt like this book was a nice escape from everyday life. I also always appreciate a clean read with inspirational undertones and this book definitely fits in that category. Thank you so much to the author and JustRead Tours for the chance to read and review this book. I received an advance copy of this book with no obligation to review it.

I love this story! Finished it in one day, I had to know how it all came out! Author Meghan Carver did a terrific job of creating just the right amount of tension within the storyline, and the main players are so well-developed as to make me believe they were real!

Within the last 2 or 3 years, Amish widow and young mother, Katie Schwartz, has lost most of her family; with her parents gone and her husband’s death, Katie is left with young children and a small farm to tend. Her brother has been taking over the farm chores at her place plus his own family farm, but something serious is amiss. Katie’s brother has gone missing, leaving no trace or word of his whereabouts, yet someone continues to tend to the animals on his farm.

Distraught with concern Katie takes matters into hand, deciding to conduct an investigation of her own. Arriving at her brother’s farm, Katie begins searching the barn, finding clean stalls and fresh hay for the horses, Katie is confounded. Then she spies a small piece of paper on the barn floor, picking it up she finds what appears to be a Social Security Card but having never seen one before she is just not sure. Then she hears noises and spies someone fleeing the barn and running out through the fields.

What follows next is fraught with danger; meeting Adam Troyer, a federal agent assigned to uncover a crime ring, may just be the most dangerous thing Katie Schwarz experiences. Adam is an englisher and despite her attempts to prevent it, her heart beats wildly whenever the man is about.

I highly recommend Amish Covert Operation, it is not often I am able to read a book in a day, but with this one nothing was going to stop me from getting to the very end!

A fun suspense story!

I really like the conflict of Amish and Englisch thrown together in stories, so when I saw the description of Amish Covert Operation, I was eager to read it.

Poor Katie was only trying to find her brother and found herself being shot at and running for her life! How a good Amish man could get embroiled in such doings normally wouldn’t be believable yet author Meghan Carver made it work.

I liked that Katie was both strong and weak. She could climb trees well, knew when and how to stay silent, held on to her trust in the Lord, and yet fainted at the sight of her own blood.

The action and suspense were enjoyable, flowed well, and seemed feasible for the most part. There were a couple of situations that arose that didn’t entirely make sense yet they did not detract from the rest of the story.

While I appreciated that faith is important to the author and that she emphasized its importance in the story, Adam’s faith struggle and the way it was resolved seemed a little contrived. Katie had seemed to trust the Lord throughout the story, and then at the end it was said she really hadn’t been trusting Him, again seeming contrived.

There were also some continuity problems. For example, in the beginning, the description was given as in the months since Katie’s husband’s death. Yet later it is said to be four years after.

Readers of Amish fiction and suspense should consider adding Amish Covert Operation to their library.

Full of suspense with a very light touch of (clean) romance, AMISH COVERT OPERATION follows Katie and Adam as they track down clues and fight to stay alive, all while learning to trust in God. Katie Schwartz is a widow with twin daughters. She relies on her brother Timothy to help around her house with the animals and such. When she does not see her brother for a while, she heads to his house to make sure he is okay.

She stumbles onto something bigger, with men threatening her life and Adam Troyer, an ICE agent, helping to save her. Adam is the grandson of the Amish but his father left the community during his rumspringa when he also developed alcoholism. Adam has felt some push and pull with his connection to the Amish and their religion.

When Katie is handed a cryptic message of numbers from her brother, she and Adam will have to work together to decode it, while also keeping her safe and figuring out how to help her brother out of this situation. As they get closer, they find attraction to each other and new connections to the church and God.

The book is really fast-paced and a very quick read- easily read in one sitting. Most of the book is figuring out the message, but it seems paced well, and it was interesting to follow down the clues. The suspense was really top notch with the right amount of danger and mystery-solving. I would recommend for people who like inspirational suspense with a light hint of romance. Overall, it is a solid read.

Please note that I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Amish Covert Operation. I'm sure I've told you many time that I really like Amish fiction and I also really like suspense; this book is a no brainier for me. I do enjoy Meghan's work. She's fairly new to LIS but her books are exceptional. This book is well written, action packed, and full of faith. You will love it I'm sure.

Widow Katie Schwartz's has twin girls. They live alone but her brother helps her family but she hasn't seen him for over two months. Something is going on with him. She goes to his home but finds no one there. She goes to a hunting cabin they use to play at. She finds her bruder but he is held at gun point. He yells for her to run. As she runs she hears a gun shot and then someone is shooting at her. She falls and is helped up by a man with a gun. Who is he? Is this the end or is he here to help her?

Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agent Adam Troyer rescues the Amish woman, he's not sure if she is who she seems to be or a part of this criminal ring? He must keep her close until he knows. They climb a tree to escape but Katie is shot. The police arrive. Help is finally here. But this is just the beginning.

An undercover journey into the Amish world. Can Adam keep Katie safe and help her bruder? Both of them carry a lot of baggage. God has a plan for these broken souls. A plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Trust Him with all your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

I have not read very many suspense novels that featured the Amish but Amish Covert Operation is one such book. In it widow Katie Schwartz finds herself in the center of a very dangerous situation and her life in danger just because she tried to find her brother. Saved by federal agent Adam Troyer, Katie soon learns that she is in deep trouble and needs his protection.

The plot of Amish Covert Operation is fast-moving with plenty of action and danger. It is a given that there is also romance involved – after all it is a Love Inspired novel and the attraction between Katie and Adam is resisted by both which is also pretty much expected. Of course all readers of Love Inspired novels know the basics of how this will end but all the fun is in seeing how the characters reach that point. True-to-life example of faith under fire including natural doubts during the trials is illustrated well. Anyone who enjoys Amish fiction or suspense should love this book. Others may enjoy it as well.

The suspense in Amish Covert Operation is intense at times. It was an "I can't put this down" book for me. Meghan Carver successfully blends intrigue and faith in this novel which is ultimately about who is in control of our lives. Bits and pieces of Amish life are included in the text but the plot is more about the investigation of social security card counterfeiting than about the Amish.  While Katie exhibits faith at the start of the book, her faith deepens and grows as she faced the difficulties. Adam has Amish roots but little faith at the beginning. As he watches Katie rely on God, his faith develops. Katie and Adam are both believable and likable characters, ones the reader will come to care about and wonder "what's next?"

I would not hesitate to place Amish Covert Operation in my K-12 Christian School library. I think it would be appropriate for most middle schoolers and above.

I want to thank JustRead Publicity Tours for the complimentary e-copy of Amish Covert Operation.

Amish Covert Operation is a truly amazing story written by Meghan Carver. In this story the author really plays on the love a sister has for her brother. Katie Schwartz is a young Amish widow who is what to find out why her only brother has not been seen for two months. What she stumbles upon is devastating, frustrating, and full of danger. Refusing to give up on her brother Katie puts herself in harm's way to solve the mystery that she finds herself in. With the help of federal agent Adam Troyer they set off on this dangerous journey not knowing how it could end. I loved the characters and the way this storyline played out. It definitely kept me turning the pages anxious to solve the mystery.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Congratulations to Meghan Carver for writing another inspiring story for her readers enjoyment.

It's hard these days to find a good book that has all the perfect ingredients: suspense, drama, internal struggles, good guys, bad guys, and wonderful characters amid a beautiful, tight-knit community. This is exactly what you get with Amish Covert Operation. Calming, yet somehow on the edge of my seat, from the first page this book had me hooked. Questions constantly circled my mind until the very end, and the ending itself was surprising yet somehow predictable all at the same time. An amazing combination!

With a beautiful chemistry between Katie and Adam that flows masterfully, as well as supporting characters that are both charming and evil, this book truly has it all. An absolute pleasure to read and highly recommended.

Is changing the world for the better the best goal?

I found this newest in the Love Inspired Series to be a fun quick read, although a bit predictable. Katie, an Amish widow with twin girls is unknowingly thrown into a criminal investigation involving her brother, which is headed of course, by our leading man, Adam, an Englisher. We follow their sometimes perilous paths to not only physical and emotional healing but to a journey of allowing love to come in. Katie helps Adam regain his Amish heritage in order to discover true fulfillment in his life. Along the way we meet some abominable characters, which will keep you turning the pages!

This book starts out with a bang and moves full throttle ahead. ***warning - make sure that you have a big chunk of time when you start this book - YOU WILL NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN***
I love this author - she always writes with such passion and description. Her characters are real feeling. Katie. She has been through so much being a widow. She is so strong. Adam - who has Amish links thanks to his grandparents is drawn to her and he is intrigued. Is he able to keep her safe? Will he be able to keep business and pleasure at different ends of the spectrum? What does Katie's secluded brother have to do with all this mix? Is he involved in what and who is trying to kill Katie? If you like Amish suspense books with a great reminder of how God is always here for us - this book is for you.

If you like Amish books with suspense and mystery then this book is for you! Great characters that help draw you into the story with their everyday lives. The plot was written very well and kept me on the edge of my seat, action and suspense filled. I loved how Katie shared her faith with Adam, this was very beautifully done along with the clean romance between them. Both Katie and Adam have plenty of hurt in their lives and the author does a great job of showing how God can heal our past. This story will pull you in from the first page and keep you intrigued until the very end! This is a great read and you will be glad you picked it up.

This book was a pretty fun read!

I don't know much about the Amish culture, but Katie is Amish and Adam's grandparents are Amish but he did not grow up in the faith. After Katie, searching for her brother, sees something that put her in danger, the two grow closer as Adam is in disguise to protect her and help her brother.

I was interested in the mystery aspect, wondering what was going on and what would happen next. The climax felt a little lacking and left me wanting more, but I did like how the book ended. All in all it was good but not my favorite. I will probably read more by this author though, as I enjoyed her writing.

I received a free copy of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own and were not influenced by this.

This was an enjoyable fast, mystery/romance summer read written by Christian author Meghan Carver. It was well-written and the story keeps you in suspense. Kate is a widow and she becomes concerned when her brother, who is always around to help his sister, hasn't been seen for a long period of time. Adam, an ICE agent works with Kate to find her brother & to keep her safe. Follow along as they encounter obstacles along the way to solve Adam's involvement in a crime ring. Kate relies on her faith and Adam begins to rekindle the faith he once knew.

I enjoyed reading this Amish religious fiction book that included some romance and lots of suspense! I really liked the main character Katie and her determination, courage, and strong conviction to help others-especially her family. Adam was also a great character as he struggled to discover himself as a person, forgive and forget the past, and protect those around him.

Easy to read, great characters, suspenseful plot! I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

This isn't my usual genre but I was asked to read and write a review. The Amish concept was completely new to me and I really enjoyed that setting. Putting Adam where he didn't belong was led to a few comical mishaps, but overall the book was thrilling. The writing engaged me from the first page and the romantic chemistry between Katie and Adam was spot on. I would have like to have seen a bit more character development with Katie and perhaps a bit more of a backstory with Adam. But overall I highly recommend this book if you enjoy suspense and good clean romance.

"Amish Covert Operation" by Meghan Carver. Widow Katie Schwartz searches for her brother and finds herself in a dangerous situation. She meets federal agent Adam Troyer who with the local law enforcement work to keep her safe and work to assist in searching for her brother. Being a romance novel, bet you can figure out who Katie falls for!
