I read through this in one sitting, and was really edified as a result. I imagine it may be someone dry if spread over too long of a time. Dr. Yarnell is very intentionally building to the punchline of his conclusion—well-informed doxology. Conceptually, it’s possible to go straight to the end to get Dr. Yarnell’s summary statements and worshipful conclusion, but it’s much better to let him take you there in his brief but careful exploration of the Spirit through the whole Bible.

Dr. Yarnell is the rare author who can write a theological treatise in a way that is accessible to the common man. Such is his treatment of the person of the Holy Spirit. This well-researched work has much to say to both the head and the heart. I was enriched with biblical knowledge and encouraged by the call to worship. I've always felt as if the Holy Spirit was the most "elusive" of the Trinity for me personally -- and Malcolm's book peeled back the layers of understanding in an approachable manner.

Dr. Yarnell is a careful author, making sure to stick to the testimony of Scripture in his arguments, while also making sure his work can be understood without a seminary degree. His treatment of the Spirit in this work is short, but rich! He ties in both testaments, analogies, the known works and names, and as always, the Trinity. This is THE summary of the Holy Spirit everyone should read and pass on. Highly recommend!

This is one of the most precise but not overpoweringly academic books on the Holy Spirit. It does give a great insight on the being and actions of the Holy Spirit with support from the Scripture passages which illuminate and confirm the subject of the Person of the Holy Spirit the most. The exegesis is clear and the presentation is well-written. It's truly one of the best reads out there on the subject of the Holy Spirit. Highly receommend.

This book was absolutely a phenomenal short read. If you are interested in pneumatology at all it’s a must read. The writer carefully walks you through key sections in scripture (from genesis to revelation) and highlights the spirits role as mighty mover(genesis), Sovereign Lord God (1 Samuel), his conceiving and commissioning of Jesus (Matthew), and his indwelling personally of believers leading to communion with the triune life through adoption and intercession (Roman’s). Although Yarnell oozes scholarly content he is very accessible and does a great job of synthesizing concepts in summary sections to ensure main ideas are carried over. Overall would highly recommend.
