You Know It Makes Sense: Lessons from the Derek Trotter School of Business

Rate this book
Au Revois! The name's Trotter, Derek Trotter, and the world of business is my specialty. When it comes to the art of closing deals I've been around the track more times than a lurcher. Not only have I been there, done it and bought the t-shirt, I've gone back round to do it again, printed my own t-shirts, knocked 'em out at ridiculously low prices, and cut the competition out of the market. But the commodities game ain't all champagne and skittles. It's a rocky road full of potholes, speed cameras, people who don't indicate, mouthy cyclists, and all sorts of obstacles designed to get on your tits. You Know It Makes Sense is the definitive business guide, designed pacifically to help steer you in the right direction. Packed full of insider knowledge, tips, and warnings, think of it as your personal stat-nav on the corporate highway. And whether you're a Director, middle management, a junior staff hotshot, or the one that fetches the sandwiches, it will help you get to where you're going.

Bought as a Christmas present. Have to say (I rather unexpectedly) throughly enjoyed it! For those of us of a certain age and grew up watching 'Only Fools...' as children this was a particularly welcome and often nostalgic trip down memory lane.

There will forever be a small corner of Peckham that is Del-Boy's. Amazing how a fictious character can hold such sway over a nation. I think this is likely because he embodies (mostly) some of our (i.e. British people's) better characteristics (even if he does sell 'knock-off' goods from the back of a Robin Reliant) - tolerance, trust, forgiveness...there are probably others.

Anyone who loves Only Fools and Horses will get a laugh from this book. Its basically a Help manual written by Del boy on how to succeed in life and business. Its got a lot of references to the series but it also contains a lot more. It incluides what has happened in the years since Only Fools and Horses finished. From Damian now running the business (TITCo), Rodney having a breakdown and Del Boy now advising people on how to succeed at business, its all here and definitely worth adding to your collection

A very funny book which any fan of Only Fools And Horses would enjoy. Jim Sullivan's writing displays the same comedy genius as his father's. I laughed out loud many times reading Del Trotter's advice, it was definitely his voice. I can only hope after two books 'written' by Del Boy, I'd really like to read one 'written' by Rodney.
I would happily recommend to other readers who have enjoyed the TV show.

Extremely funny and sounded as if the words were coming straight out of Dels mouth! If you are a big fan of only fools and horses and have seen all the episodes it will be extremely easy to get all of the jokes. Thourally enjoyed!

Cracking. Packed full of nostalgic, timeless gags and a few new gems thrown in. A real healthy time warp to the golden age of British comedy. Loved every word.
