When you lose a loved one, the pain can feel unbearable, but what if you knew that the spirit of your loved one lived on? Author, psychotherapist, and psychic medium Suzanne Maiden can answer that—six months before she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she began to see dead people. In Spirit Untethered, Maiden recounts heartwarming stories of the deceased communicating messages of comfort and joy to loved ones left behind. Drawing on wisdom gleaned from both her own dance with death and her journey of mediumship, she illuminates the deathless nature of spirit and reveals that love is the vibration that links our world and spirit realms. If you’re a skeptic or have ever wondered whether death offers a deeper meaning, then this heartfelt memoir serves as a reminder and gift for you. This personal narrative presents a collection of stories of spirit contact, shared by a woman whose experiences with cancer opened her to spiritual connection beyond her imagination.
Book Report: “Spirit Untethered” by Suzanne Maiden. The author, Suzanne Maiden, is the wife of a fellow I worked with for years and in so doing became a good friend. He was a great copilot, but on top of that he was very clever, smart, and interested in everything. The legs we flew were never long enough for the stories we told, the ideas we shared, and finding all the many ways we connected over and above our jobs. The first time I met this coworker, he proudly shared that his wife was working on a PhD as a psychotherapist. They had met at a party during their Air Force years, and my friend describes the mind-bending love-at-first-sight he experienced, seeing the pretty blonde across a crowded room. I never met Suzanne, but after years of flying with her husband, I feel like I knew her well. My friend’s beautiful wife passed away a couple years ago after a quite horrific lingering illness. Suzanne became driven to produce this book to share her discoveries in her search for answers in her practice which mainly dealt with grief counseling. In this book, Suzanne details her studies to achieve expertise as a psychic medium. Early in the book, she notes, “I see dead people.” Absolutely fascinating. If you’ve ever had a “feeling” or a “sense” of another side, or something or someone from the “other side,” it’s easy to believe those senses can be honed and fine-tuned. Her stories are amazing and fascinating. The main message I got from Suzanne’s book is that it’s all good news. Death ends your earthly form, but there is something after. My parents taught this. My religious training taught this. This book suggests the possibility of connecting the two from time to time, or at least comfort in the knowledge that the spirit goes on, and they continue to love us.
