How can you began to trust anyone when your heart is already scarred from childhood, past relationships, and the issues of life. One might say it's non existent or nearly impossible. At least that's how it feels to Kira Johnson and Diamond Mitchell. Kira and Diamond are two young chicks fresh out of high school, starting college with bright futures ahead of them.
Kira's view on men is already warped because of the heartache she witnessed her mother endure from her father. She's her mother's only child and has been spoiled and sheltered her entire life. She vows to never be a fool for a man and keeps a tight guard over her heart. This all changes when she meets a dope boy by the name of Malik Carter. His swag, charisma, and cocky ways, mesmerize her instantly. Malik comes into her life and removes the guard she’s placed over her heart. She accidently lets him in, but will the things that come with his lifestyle be too much for her heart to handle?
Diamond has dealt with hurt her entire life. Her heart has endured plenty of damage from her mother being addicted to drugs, to her first love tearing her down emotionally and physically. When she meets the cousin of Malik, Lorenzo Carter, they instantly connect. Coming from the same background they have a lot in common, but will this be enough? Will Lorenzo be able to mend Diamond’s already tarnished heart or will he inflict more damage and push Diamond to her breaking point.
We all deal with trust issues, the question is can we overcome them. Follow these two couples to see if through the drama, heartbreaks, ups and downs, round and rounds, trials and tribulations, they can trust and believe in real love.
This book was too long for all of the back & forth these couples were doing. Every chapter somebody was CHEATING!!!!!!!! The girls was putting their hands on the men. The men were putting their hands on the women. Immature behavior between everybody. No character development at all. I don’t know how I made it to the end of the book but something made me keep reading 🤷🏽♀️
You might like this if you like boys who got a girl but got 3 other side chicks 🥴🫠
I enjoyed that this was a standalone. I love books like this where we watch the characters grow throughout different stages of life. Diamond and Kira went through the ringer behind Zo and Malik. Their journey was full of so many ups and Downs that the ending wasn’t predictable. It literally could’ve gone either way for both couples. It was so evident how their child hoods affected their choices. A praying grandma was the glue that kept these families together. I love the role prayer and scripture played in the story!
Again this author held my interest. This emotional roller coaster just kept me in my feelings. The couples went through a lot and some things unnecessary, if they would just be responsible adults but life happens like that sometimes. At the end everything went how it was suppose to. I’m looking forward to more from her.
I gave it 3 stars cause the back and forth between the main characters were too much. The book was so long and drawn out. People making and breaking up over and over again. Same plot rinse and repeat. But the writing was good and story was ok, just way too long.
I truely enjoyed this book but the basic principle of respect didn’t become apparent until a bit too late but who am I to judge what one may tolerate just might not be my wave. I loved how the author stayed true to her scene and didn’t dumb down the lingo.
Ok this one had its up and down. . Sometimes I just couldn’t put down than at other times I was skipping pages . I’m glad everyone got there happy ending.
