"Max goes to the zoo by Adrien Klein is a delightful children's book that captured the heart of my grandson, Max. Just before our trip to the zoo, I gifted him this enchanting tale, and he couldn't get enough of it! The charming illustrations and engaging storyline made it an instant favorite."

Max Goes to the Zoo by Adria Klein is part of a series of level reader books. This particular story is a purple level or a story presenting basic topics and objects with the use of high frequency words and simple language patterns. The story begins with Max the main character inviting his friend Lilly to the zoo. Max and Lilly see the elephants, polar bears, giraffes, monkeys, lions and kangaroos. Max and Lilly enjoy a tasty treat and go home. The book uses colorful illustrations of appropriate for emergent readers. The illustrations resemble more cartoon-like features of animals rather than realistic images. The book embraces cultural diversity as Max is African American and Lilly is Asian. This would be a good book to have in the classroom library.
