Sharks vs. sloths? Well, I suppose it’s anyone’s game, really, but where I stand on this match-up can be best summarized by my (totally accidental) choice to wear a shark shirt and Sharks jacket the day I read this book.

To know how “the guy in the treetops” and “the gal with the gills” would fare in any sort of a match-up (and if you, like me, were eagerly awaiting a bloody toothy battle for survival, chill out — it’s meant for non-bloodthirsty kids) you need to know some facts on which to base the ultimate decision. Pygmy sharks are the size of three goldfish, and giant sloths of the past may have pooped avocados all over the Americas (thanks for my guacamole, sloth poo!), and sloths can turn their heads 270 degrees Exorcist-style, sloths swim well because they are gassy, and Greenland sharks move at slothy 1 mph speed. Not to mention the burning question of who’s the bigger pooper.

It’s a fun book where you get to decide who’s the winner (although if you ask me, it’s totally sharks because well, sharks are awesome, duh).

Although the quiz in the end did suggest that I’m a slothy kind of shark, so I suppose sloths are cool, too.

Adorable!
5 stars toothy slothy sharks.

Which is better, a shark or a sloth? You get to decide after being presented with information about both animals.

Another good one in this Funny Face-Offs series. The information is presented very engagingly, the photographs are excellent, and kids can debate to their hearts' content for their favorite animal based on the facts. Recommended for animal lovers and curious readers.

You get to pick who wins in this fact-filled book. It probably should be obvious, but who knew that sloths had a lot of bugs in their fur and that it grows backwards from the middle of their belly? The end of the book has a quiz to help you determine which one your personality most resembles.
