What the What?!?
I would tell you what the book was about, but the information would be inaccurate. Why? Because the version of “Nude Awakening” submitted and received for review is NOT the “Nude Awakening” that went to print. What I read is not what’s on the book shelves for sale. What I read is not what you will read or have read.
Wahida Clark Presents Publishing submitted an uncorrected proof for review prior to this book’s publication. That’s a pretty standard practice, nothing strange there. However, considering previous issues with uncorrected proofs, I picked up a copy of the final version of the book to compare the two. I’m glad I did. My review would be about people and things that don’t exist. You’ll read about Trevon Harrison, a man that was convicted of murdering the man that raped his sister. After 15 years of incarceration, he came home and hooked up with Amatory Erotic Films where he was all set to be the next great porn star, kicking his career off with a film of his first sexual experience since his release. Me? I read about Trev, a man that served 15 years in prison. Why? I don’t know, the book never said. He hooked up with Amatory Erotic Films. He signed a contract, which called for him to remain SEX-FREE until his first film. Before the ink was even dry on the contract, Trev had slept with absolutely everyone, including other employees of Amatory Erotic Films and somebody’s mama. Trev never even got to the point of making a film by the book’s end.
You’ll read about Swagga, Yaffa, Kandi, Chyna, Kendra, Cindy, and Carmelita. I read about Swagga and Yaffa too, but that’s where the commonalities ended. I read about Ayelet, Adonica, Michelle, Japonica, Kiera, Shanice, Face, Mick, Raquel, and Matisha. What happened in the book I read didn’t happen in the book you’ll read and vice versa. The book I read covers the time period of August 2009 to September 2010. The published version starts with the summer of 1996 and ends with December 2011, with both a prologue and epilogue. Needless to say, the beginnings and endings are very different.
The book I read lacked development in both plot and characters. There was an abundance of pointless sex scenes, unprotected sex I might add. Granted the book involved the adult entertainment industry, but many of the scenes were irrelevant and did nothing to propel the plot. People were not described physically beyond what celebrity they resembled. Paula Abdul, Nicki Minaj, Gwen Stefani and Serena Williams’ thighs all graced the pages of this story. When women weren’t likened to a celebrity, they were simply described by their body measurements (34DDD-29-43). More detail was given about the cars driven and the clothes worn than the characters.
There were no page breaks to transition from one setting to another. Often I had to stop and re-read sentences and paragraphs to determine if there was an error or an actual change. Literally, in one sentence I was in one scene dealing with these characters and the very next sentence in another scene dealing with other characters. This caused constant disruptions in reading and made getting through this book a chore.
Bottom line: This copy of “Nude Awakening” read more like a first draft. The final version may be better. The issues with development may have been addressed and corrected. The characters may have been fleshed out better. Some of the unnecessary sex may have been done away with. The plot may have been stronger and more cohesive. I don’t know because that’s not what was sent for review, and I only read the version submitted. Picking up the final version was simply to flip through and confirm my suspicions. It only took a quick flip through to know that the two books were not the same. The final version may be a decent read, but I’ll never know.
An uncorrected proof or ARC in such disarray should NEVER be given to anyone to read, much less for review. Apparently, though, this is a pattern for WCP Publishing. I don’t know what’s going on over there, but this is ridiculous! At least this book didn’t have editor’s notes like the last one. *sigh*

This book was very good n im glad the mr legend was in here. The ended betta then what I thought I thought it was gonna end completly different.. Cant wait to see what mr martin have in store for his next book....

I agree with thr person review named *Disapointed Reader) who have one star. This book does discriminated against black women. I mean what is the black man's motive, to try and contribute to wiping out black people. Of course I'm right! I see there are a lot of black people who have stupidly given 5 stars. Dumb!
This book was boring has hell and does not even deserve one star. I am glad I got this for free.

Great Read!
This book had me engrossed from beginning to end. It has a great storyline and isn't too far fetched from reality. It gives a fantasy and drama all at the same time. Cannot wait to read part 2.

While serving fifteen years in prison Trev Harrison focuses on a way to earn a living that won’t lead him back behind bars. Knowing that being black and an ex-felon will seriously jeopardize his job search Trev decides to seek out a more unconventional type of employment. Taking a gamble he writes a letter to an adult film company expressing his desire to enter the porn industry. To his surprise upon his release from prison he’s granted an interview with Janelle Babin the owner of Amatory Erotic Films.
Amatory Erotic Films is a multi-million dollar grossing company that Janelle started all on her own utilizing her business savvy. Janelle knows that the marketing of the first copulation from a man that’s been locked up for fifteen years can garner her company additional millions. However she needs to interview Trev first to discern if he’s more than just an ex-com looking to get laid. Because it’s going to take more than just the sexy face and hard body that the enclosed picture from Trev’s letter revealed to convince Janelle that he has what it takes to make it in the porn industry. The interview leads to Trev receiving a contract with Amatory that includes a five figured advancement.
Being the smart business woman that she is Janelle has full intentions of protecting her new investment, Trev. Filming for his movie is set to begin in two weeks and Janelle wants to make sure that one he doesn’t do anything that would lead him back to jail and two that he remains celibate. In order to facilitate both Janelle coerces another one of her adult film stars, Ayelet; to not only mentor Trev but to allow him to become her roommate. The living situation is a disaster waiting to happen how can a horny man ignore the temptation a porn star roommate? Added to the sexual tension is Ayelet’s milf mother, Michelle who’s lusting after Trev as well. Rounding out the cast of characters is a sub-plot centering on Swagga Ayelet’s spurned ex and Adonica the porn star who betrayed Ayelet and caused Swagga his ex status.
With Nude Awakening author Victor Martin created an intriguing premise that was hampered by some very unbelievable scenarios. The most damaging one being that a smart business woman such as Janelle would think that Trev could remain celibate for two weeks while cohabitating with a female porn star. Another drawback of the novel was the excessive sex scenes. Granted a novel about the porn industry is bound to have an abundance of sex but none of these scenes took place in front of the camera. All of the trysts revolved around Trev and how irresistible women found him so much so that panties were usually thrown at him within minutes of meeting him or anytime a woman found herself alone with him.
What did you like about the book?
The plot was original and set the premise for a potentially intriguing read.
What did you dislike about the book?
The sex overkill; although the premise allowed for sex almost all of it was unprotected and surprisingly off camera.
What could the author do to improve the book?
With less focus placed on salacious sex on almost every other page and more focused placed on adding more fact to make his fiction more believable.

When I first looked at the title of this book and read the synopsis I figured "here we go with an urban mess." I will tell you that I was totally wrong. The story begins with Trevon Harrison hearing the words "not Guilty" during court proceedings against the man who hurt his 13 year old sister. Being 18 and the man of the house, he felt he would let his mother and sister down if he didn't give out his own form of justice to the perpetrator. After serving 15 years in prison Trevon is being released and looking forward to reclaiming his life legally. With his well-built body and good looks, Trevon decides to enter into the porn industry. What he doesn't know is that with this fast money endeavor comes a price to pay. Soon Trevon finds himself caught up in a world of lies, jealousy and surprisingly love. The reader will be enthralled with the different characters, twists and plot(s) within the story. I didn't want to put the book down. I especially liked the smoothness with which the author was able to connect all of the characters together even when it seemed as though there wasn't a connection. Anyone looking for a read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you.

Having read HOOD LEGEND & MENAGE'S WAY years ago by Mr Martin, I was already kind of familiar with his work. Needless to say I was NOT disappointed!!
What I truly liked about Nude Awakening is how instead of the main character being a dope boy, Trevon was actually a family man who went to jail for defending his younger sister. Determined not to go back to jail or resort to hustling, Trevon decides to journey into the world of porn. It is here that he meets Kandi aka LaToria. The two have an intense connection that everyone can clearly see. We soon meet Swagga, Kandi's ex who is a rapper. He is determined to win Kandi back even if it means playing dirty!! This is where the drama begins :-)
Although the ending was kinda fast paced, the story as a whole was phenomenal! It felt like I was reading a movie script. Mr Martin definitely wrote a great novel and I look forward to more of his work!

It was an exciting adventure, like a passionate dream when someone calls your name and wake you up out that dream. I could not put it down LOL!!!!
But the book was amazing, he made his readers feel like they were there in the middle of every passionate scene, which was a thrill. I was on the edge of my seat when Swagga found out abou Chyna, but felt sad how they took his/her life. The Biggest shock was when he knew about Chyna, but could not get enough.
I like it that Mr. Martin took his imagination to another level and gave his readers an mindful of excitement that makes them and myself want more of Nude Awakening.
Job well done Mr. Martin, I can't wait until your next book comes out.

OMG! Where do I start? It would have to be at the cover. The cover told me immediately that this was going to be a powerful and intense book. What can I say...from beginning to end, I was gripped. I wish a movie would be made, it would be a blockbuster!! Martin may have been extremely graphic in his content, but face it...it was written for realistic real adults...not pretend saints. This book even gave me some pointers in my lovelife(smile). I was not disappointed at all. The drama and characters were so powerful and colorful, you could actually "feel" the action depicted in this novel. I could almost identify with some of the things that were happening in this book. Incredible!! I can't wait to read another one by this author!

This was my first read by Victor but it won't be my last. This was the first novel that I have read that followed an upcoming porn star. Trevon is just looking for a legit way to get money and porn falls into his lap. Who wouldn't want to see a man have sex for the first time after 15 years? The sex scenes were steamy! Victor definitely handled those well. Everything seems to be looking up but once he starts sleeping with his roommate and coworker Kandi everything takes a turn for the worse. Trevon ends up having to deal with a crazy ex-boyfriend of Kandi's who will do anything to get her back. Fast-paced and a great read! WCP never disappoints!

I had been searching for a good book to read, and was happy when I came across this. The book was amazing until about half way through. I began to question what the book was actually about. I felt like the way the story line was set up, Trevon would be more involved in the Adult film industry, instead of the scheming and the blackmail. I was hoping something more developed with Kendra. The way things ended with her seemed so sudden, the ending itself actually seemed sudden as well. I don't think I will be reading the sequel.

i read this book i was a fan of this author and i really love this book and the way victor wrote this book was awesome i was hot reading this book and the way the character was so detail in this book was just such a great job.i know this is going to be his best work ever.i have read all his work from his begining so i see tremendous growth with victor job well done
