Cass Alexander is the pen name of a Southern born and bred public school teacher. Her brother, who insists she address him as, The Prince of Darkness, gave her the nom de plume after warning Cass that her book’s content may scar her sons for life.

She’s a connoisseur of fine humor, hilarious insults, and all things chocolate, preferably dark (like her humor). Oh, and wine. Let’s not forget the wine. Cass also enjoys running. It’s become crucial to her survival, due to her consumption of wine and chocolate.

Cass’s mission in life is to spread the love and the laughter, goodness knows it’s needed. It’s why she wrote The Persimmon Series.

She and her family now reside in the Midwest, where hardly anyone other than Cass says the words, y’all and holler.

That is all. For now.

I see London, I see France…What is the most embarrassing thing you have ever faced? Who saw the event? For Morgan, let’s just say that short of toilet paper on her shoes, this was probably one of the worst things ever to happen and it is witnessed by none other than Nate Stevenson, school Brainiac, boy genius and total hottie. Oh yes, her senior year at Persimmon College is off and running.
For Morgan, her senior year at Persimmon was it, the last hurrah and her ticket out of her small town home in Kentucky. She never thought this final year would be one of the most life-changing times of her life. Okay, she hasn’t miraculously become a vision of grace and poise, she’s still a spaz, but apparently when it comes to love, even Cupid has a sense of humor although his timing could be a little be it better.

She wants Nate, he wants her, but there is a major road block and it is up to Morgan to be honest and break up with Alex, the boy she knows is all wrong for her, the boy she has outgrown and the boy she just can’t quite seem to say good-bye to. It isn’t that she hasn’t tried, but there seems to be a communication barrier that gets even more twisted when a drunken stunt comes close to costing Alex his very life.

Follow Morgan’s heartache, joys and less than stellar moments as seen through her eyes and from within the tornado that is her mind! Once again, Cass Alexander uses humor, attitude and snark to deal with some of life’s tougher moments, making them equally endearing and entertaining. No, no, human hearts will NOT be sacrificed for our reading pleasure, what could be a completely heartbreaking tale of guilt and pain will become a journey to freedom, growth and love! And did I mention HUMOR? The trip into Morgan's brain is priceless!

I received an ARC edition from Cass Alexander in exchange for my honest review.

Morgan Pottinger is attending the school Persimmon with hopes of doing a semester abroad in Italy. She is kind of dating her high school boyfriend Alex Sandford but it's one of those relationships when they are home together they are dating and while they are off at school they aren't. Morgan is also a bit of a klutz and can't help but walk into walls and other hilarious things that keep the laughs going.

Nathaniel Stevenson is the future valedictorian and extremely good looking. Morgan is shocked to learn that Nate is attracted to her but unfortunately can't go any further than "friends" when she is still with Alex.

Unfortunately a series of events with Alex leave Morgan wondering if she will ever be able to end things with him or if she will end up married by the time the year is up.

This book was so full of laughs mixed with a few serious moments to keep your heart jumping from one event to the next. This was the first time I have read this author and it definitely won't be my last.

Morgan was such a great character that left me laughing so many times. From her underwear to walking into walls she always provided such comic relief. Yet she was also a girl with a huge problem - Alex. I felt bad with what she had to deal with from Alex's psycho mom, Agnes. But Morgan did not want to cheat on Alex with Nate even though she believed that they weren't even together.

Nate was such a great character too and I liked how he was super smart and hot at the same time. I thought his scenes with Maya were funny as she really wanted him. Yet he was trying to be the perfect gentleman with Morgan and wait until she was single.

Nate and Morgan together were awesome and you know it would be filled with laughter! I am really looking forward to more books with these characters!

I think I finished this in less than three hours. I could be mistaken because I was so engrossed in the Morgan drama that I wasn't able to be pulled out of this book! It's such an easy read that before you know it, it's the END! Gah I feel greedy, I wanted more! It was nice that the male lead was the smart one for once and not just the girl. It definitely does have it's advantages. Morgan and Nate are hilarious together and you never know if she's going to make you laugh or run into something! I went back and read the ending again because I was swooning over these adorable characters. I can't wait to read by this author!

This book is a hot mess of fun and I enjoyed every minute of this story. I didn't realize until I started that this is part of a series, and while the characters from the earlier books are in this story, you can still read this as a standalone and not feel lost.

Morgan is that one person we've all known at some point in our lives: lovable, sweet, quirky, maybe not that coordinated, but has a heart of gold. She's also got one helluva a moral compass, which is the reason why she's not crossing boundaries with Nate until she gets the hometown boyfriend situation rectified, which ends up being not as easy as one would think lol.

Nate, bless him, is a great book boyfriend. He's got plenty of smarticles and insight, especially when it comes to Morgan. He throws signals her way, but she's not sure about the actual message; it does take her a bit to catch on to the fact that he likes her. He's surprisingly understanding about the situation with her hometown guy, but is he willing to wait?

As for the hometown situation, that is a whole other bucket of comedy; I mean, you kinda feel bad for what the boyfriend is going through, and goodness knows his mother is definitely making the situation worse than it is and trying to lay blame on Morgan. I laughed pretty damn hard when Morgan finally stood up to the mother.

This is the third book in the Persimmon series and this couple are definitely the best in my opinion. From Morgan's klutz-y ways and drama-filled life, to Nate's constant overthinking and teasing.

Of the three Persimmon books, I think the male protagonist in this book is the best. While still a little 'alpha-male'-ish, he is a sweet guy. Their budding romance shows as friends building into more which always pulls a little more at my heart strings.

The pair are both already dating others when they decide they like each other. Add to that the crazy situation in Morgan's life back in her hometown, this book really does make you wonder if they will ever get together.

Steamy in parts, adorable in others. :)

"Working With It" is the third book in the Persimmon series and also my favourite :) Nate and Morgan are destined to be together, but due to the very important fact of each of them being in another relationship, they have to tame their desires. Well, it was easy enough for Nate to become single, but the seemingly endless stream of complications for Morgan and her breakup attempts had me both laughing and frustrated along with her. This book didn't take me too long to read - mostly because I just couldn't put it down! Another fantastic effort by Cass Alexander and I can't wait for more new releases 😉
