A nice little psychological technique

There’s a lot to like with the straightforward little technique that eliminates persistent thoughts and general beliefs. However, it seems to be a bit of a stretch to claim that the elimination of arising thoughts via a technique and also the elimination of beliefs does equate to “enlightenment”. The book is well written and really covers his IE technique in full with half the book explaining the 3 step technique and half the book giving examples and applications. My chief criticism is around the process of having to use reasoning within the process and thus engage the mind and personality in undoing what it has created in the first place, via its own processes. This would seem to keep the mind and ego fully engaged and employed with long-term job prospects. In such a scenario, enlightenment and the absence of the mind/ego would simply not happen or at least be seen through in terms of the mind’s empty and illusory nature- along with all thoughts and the world that occurs simultaneously with the mind. Overall, a good read, and may be helpful psychologically, but I can’t recommend as a path leading to the extinction of the ego, false self, mind, as such.
