The book will be a complete guide to selecting, rebuilding, and modifying the Q-Jet, aimed at both muscle car restorers and racers. The book includes a history of the Q-Jet, an explanation of how the carb works, a guide to selecting and finding the right carb, instructions on how to rebuild the carb, and extensive descriptions of high-performance modifications that will help anyone with a Q-Jet carb crush the competition.

This book has been quite an education. I didn't merely read, but studied it, particularly the early chapters covering the theoretical concepts, highlighting and taking notes along the way. Shortly, I'll undertake the rebuild of my '70 Tempest's Rochester 2-Jet, and then eventually my '70 455 GTO's Quadrajet. This book has giving me a rock-solid foundation as I take on those carburetor rebuilds.

Once past the theory, Cliff Ruggles then guides you through the various Quadrajet features over the years. A surprise to me was the fact that the later (1976 and newer) carburetors are generally a better starting point for building in thanks for their larger primary bores as well as the second generation of APT (Adjustable Part Throttle).

The book also left me a strong sense for how the carburetor fits into the entire system of the car; there's a very interesting section talking about ported vs manifold vacuum, with a lot of Cliff's real-world experience to backup his assertions. Finally, performance modifications are discussed in depth, system by system. This book is simply a must-read (study) for anyone who owns a car with a Rochester Quadrajet.

This is one of the best technical reference and how-to books on Quadrajet carbs. If you're just tuning one up or interested in a full rebuild/mod, get this book! Invaluable and full of photos and information, you won't be disappointed.
